Then the king stood by a pillar and made a covenant before the Lord, to follow the Lord and to keep His commandments and His testimonies and His statutes, with all his heart and all his soul, to perform the words of this covenant that were written in this book. And all the people took a stand for the covenant.

2Kings 23.3

He who has control over his family, church or society must stand by the pillar, the revelation of God’s Word, because the Word brings understanding and faith. After all, without God’s support, we cannot have the victory. Christ said that without him (without God’s Word), we can do nothing (John 15.5). Therefore, stand by the pillar the Lord has revealed to you.

If you allowed evil to enter your life (whether consciously or unconsciously), it is because you despised the Word of God. In this case, admitting your failure is not enough; it is necessary that you make a covenant with the Lord, like Jacob did, taking the stone that he had put at his head, and setting it up as a pillar (Genesis 28.18). The covenant has to be made before the Most High, solemnly and through a prayer, in the presence of other people. After that, watch and pray, lest you forget the covenant you made with the Lord.

In your covenant with the Lord, you should not ask anything, but claim that which you learned that it belongs to you, as well as reaffirm your duties. Then you should always remember what you said before the Lord. Do not take foolish vows, as if you did not know what God’s Word asks from you. The Almighty does not accept anything he has not inspired you to do.

Your covenant must be for you to walk with God, and the important thing is to keep his commands, testimonies and statutes (Proverbs 7.2). He will never ask you to do anything beyond your abilities. When you keep the Lord’s commands, you will learn things you would never learn otherwise. He who keeps God’s commands will know the secrets of faith.

There is no other way to serve the Lord: it must be with all your heart and with all your soul (Luke 10.27). He who believes to be serving the Lord by going to church is a fool. Your attendance at the services is not what matters, but your attendance to the true house of the Lord (his Word) is. When temptation comes, remember what the Scriptures say.

Take a stand for your covenant with God. Whatever he put in the New Covenant must be assumed by you all the time. Do not accept any illness, pain, sinful desires of any sort, because Jesus has already paid the price for you to live a clean and holy life (1Timothy 2.5-6). Therefore, never stray from the rules set forth in the New Testament.

Finally, fulfill every mission entrusted to you through the Scriptures. The promises and the commands are addressed to you. There is only one condition for you to live in the fullness of blessings: to be a servant of God, fulfilling with dedication the divine commandments.

In Christ, with love,

R. R. Soares
