And she said, “The Philistines are upon you, Samson!” So he awoke from his sleep, and said, “I will go out as before, at other times, and shake myself free!” But he did not know that the Lord had departed from him.  Judges 16.20

Samson’s birth came on the exact manner that the people of God needed. Undoubtedly, it can be said the same about every person that is born in the world. It is good never to frustrate our God, but to make Him happy. He says that if we are wise – to seek what He has prepared for us and take hold of it –, His heart will rejoice with our attitude. Now, when we please the Lord, He satisfies the desires of our hearts (Ps 37.4).

The great tragedy of humanity is the variety of religions around the world, with so many varied teachings. Now, everything that mankind has created has no value to satisfy the Most High and make His operations possible. These things are dangerous, for their have a contrary value: they help the enemy to captivate billions of people. The religious think that they are according to the divine will, but in fact, they are pleasing the enemy.

One of Samson’s mistakes was to be filled with self-confidence to the point of ignoring that God was the One giving him the victory, and not his own physical strength. Many people think that their academic formation will give them success, but it is not so. If these people produce things that do not come from the Lord, they are work of the flesh, and like Jesus said, the flesh is weak (Mk 26.41). The fire will test the kind of work that was done.

Samson thought he was stronger than his flesh, and since he surrendered to it, he proved how a passion can captivate and defeat a person. During centuries, numerous servants of the Most High were dominated by the fascination of this world. Afterwards, when these people woke up from their mistake, it was too late already in many cases. Today is a day to defeat temptation!

When he confessed his secret to Delilah, Samson fell in a deep sleep in her lap, and since his hair was cut by her, he lost all his strength. The same happens with those who let themselves be dominated by the demon of passion, for they tell more than they should, and thus, the adversary (who is always waiting for a chance) can enter in this life and destroy it. If your passion already dominates your heart, run to God, for your next step can be fatal.

It was a sad day when Samson thought he was strong like the other times. In fact, the Spirit of God had already left him. May this never happen to you, because if the Lord leaves you, the evil one will use the opportunity to do his perverse work. Those who fall in a profound sleep in the lap of the enemy will see that they were led astray from the Almighty once they wake up.

Do whatever is necessary not to lose the presence of the Father. Certainly, your end will be melancholic if this happens. The worst thing about being passionate is never seeing the danger. For the passionate, the major defects of the “Delilahs” are impressive virtues. God can and wants to free you from this blow. Do you want to be rescued?

In Christ, with love,

All-Powerful God! Samson experimented a little of Your strength, and being deceived by the demon, he thought he could play with sin. He was in love, so he did not see Delilah’s astute intention, and revealed his secret, departing from Your presence.

May this never happen with any of my readers! We want to be obedient to You, doing what pleases You and never letting ourselves be led by the enemy’s lies. Have mercy on those who are captive to the filthy ties of passion today.

Nobody can do by themselves what they can do when You use them, for the strength and the power come from You. If we are not in communion with You, we will not be able to have You in our lives. Forgive us and help us to respect You.
