The LORD shall preserve you from all evil; He shall preserve your soul.  Psalm 121.7

Christians have no reason to become desperate when facing persecution, or violence, which in our society seems to be increasing each day, nor to become dismayed because of an illness that afflicts them. Our safety is a settled matter, because the Lord said he will preserve us from all evil. The truth is that the devil will never succeed in his schemes against those who serve the Most High.

Our God is the only Lord. He created all things, so He is aware of their power to do us good or evil. When the devil tries to do something to harm you, the Almighty God makes sure he will not succeed. The only thing that you need to do is trust in his Word. Therefore, do not be dismayed if you are attacked by weapons of the liar.

The Almighty God is shelter for all those who trust in him. When you put your faith into practice, the devil is unable to strike you. King David, a man who made the decision to put his trust in the Lord, fought a number of battles, but in the Scriptures there is no record of David having lost a single finger, or an arm, or even being injured.

And what was the reason why David, a servant of the Lord, was never injured? He was preserved because he believed in that which he understood when reading or hearing the Word of God. For David, the promise that a thousand might fall at his side, and ten thousand at his right hand, but it shall not come near him was very real (Psalm 91.7). So he was never afraid of going into battle. It does not matter what the devil says—he is nothing but a liar who cannot fulfill his threats (John 8.44).

The verse we are studying guarantees that the Lord will preserve your soul, which means that the most valuable thing you have—your life—will be preserved, and you will be strong enough to overcome the enemy. If the devil manages to strike your soul, you will become weaker, and then he will be able to strike your whole self. But once your soul is protected, you will win all battles.

Those who trust in God are protected against any attacks from hell; but those who are weak in faith are unable to fight evil. Therefore, it is essential that all those who are saved are in communion with God, steadfast in his promises, without confessing that which seems to be true.

Only the Word of God does not fail! It has been sent to us as a remedy to all our afflictions, healing the sick and delivering those whose feet are entangled in the traps that are secretly set against us. Stand firm in faith and you will never be defeated!

In Christ, with love,

Almighty God, I come to you with faith and resolution, because I know that your word will never pass. Consequently, our safety is a settled matter. And there is no way the enemy will succeed in striking us, as much as he tries.

You are greater than all, and your hand is fully able to uphold us, preventing any darts from hell to hit us. This way, we can rest in your presence and continue to do your holy will.

Oh Father, show to those who do not fully trust in you—and for this reason they sometimes feel weak and forsaken—that, even if all hell rises against their lives, the enemy will not succeed. Thank you, Lord!
