And this is the sign to you from the Lord, that the Lord will do this thing which He has spoken:  Isaiah 38.7

The story of the incurable disease of king Hezekiah and his subsequent cure, has been used by many preachers throughout all generations, as an example that he had nothing more to do but to prepare his house, for he would die. However, he learned how to seek God and, thus, he was completely healed by the divine power. May this serve as an alert to you! Even if God Himself said that you will not escape, you might change the situation if you pray the right way. 

This story is not in the Scriptures by chance, as if there was nothing else to be written. God had a great and holy purpose with the battle for life that Hezekiah fought with Him, and because of that, he prevailed. Don’t play with your happiness or with what the devil makes up about you, for, if you do so, you will inevitably go away before time. It wasn’t the Lord who decreed the death of that king, but it was his spiritual stature of those days. 

When Isaiah came to the palace to pray for Hezekiah, God told him to tell the king: “You will not be healed, but you will die”. Now, those who have a strong faith cannot overcome a trial unless they have a super powerful, unwavering faith. Therefore, the Lord who knows all things, said He would not heal the king, because of the faith of the king at that moment. However, that king knew how to pray and ordain his deliverance, and this caused the Most High to tell Isaiah to give another message. 

The news was too good! Then, even though he knew that that word was the confirmation of what he was feeling, the king asked to be given a sign. Once it was agreed what signal it would be, God sent the prophet with a complete message, saying that Hezekiah´s request was accepted. Thus, the Most High fulfilled what He had said, making time go back 10 degrees on Ahaz´s sundial. Never heard of something like it, but God honored His Word. 

The Heavenly Father always gives signs to those who serve Him, but, even the most simple sign has to come from Him. Our dependency on the Almighty must be full; otherwise, the work will not be done. He had to stop the Solar System to accomplish what He has promised to Hezekiah, and, so, the time went back 40 minutes. You can’t even imagine what the Lord will do in favor of any of His children who pray the right way and believe in Him wholeheartedly. 

The prayer that prevails is the one someone says according to what God says, when they enter into a demand with Him. Of course the Most High will not let some rude person offend Him, by putting the blame on Him for some problem, but He will rejoice with the person who heard His voice, and did not give up their right to demand their cause in a right way, just like a good lawyer does in court. You offend the Lord when you agree with the enemy. 

The biblical examples serve as a basis for our prayers and with them, we can learn how to claim our cause, just like Hannah did to become a mother; like Job did when he fought for his healing, and so many others who knew how to cling to the Heavens until they saw the work done in their life. Don’t give any room to the enemy, but be firm in faith and loyal to the Omnipotent.
