When these things had been done, the Jewish leaders came to me and said, "Many of the people of Israel, and even some of the priests and Levites, have not kept themselves separate from the other peoples living in the land. They have taken up the detestable practices of the Canaanites, Hittites, Perizzites, Jebusites, Ammonites, Moabites, Egyptians, and Amorites. Ezra9.1

What a hard day the judgment day will be, for those who do not obey the commands of the Lord and will be separated in order to give explanations. In many cases the person does not listen to the Lord’s orientation, because everything is “working like a charm”, and so the person thinks the Lord is approving his attitude. The success a person has achieved in life does not matter, for, if what he lives or professes is different than what comes from the Bible, this person will have problems.

We cannot accept some procedures that are against the Word, even if leaders of the church approve them. The person who is brave enough to go past what is written in the Bible should review his decision. Actually, nobody has permission to teach what is contrary to the Scriptures. Even if the person is in a commanding position in the Lord’s work, if this person is copying the wicked in immorality, they will have to pay for their mistakes

It was exactly because of these attitudes that the Lord took the land from the seven nations – that, for centuries, lived in Canaan – and gave them to the children of Israel. The ones who hand themselves to these sins, will for sure, have problems in the day of the judgment. Sex, for example, is only permitted after marriage, and even so, nature with nature. Those who let philosophy make up their mind in this corrupted world do not please the Lord.

Other than the attitudes of the seven nations who lived in the Promise Land, before the Israelites arrived, they were acting just like the ammonites, Moabites and Egyptians. One of the mistakes by Balaam was to send the Moabites to corrupt the children of Israel (Nm 31.16), and because of this mistake, he paid a high price. As they were freed from the slavery, the Israelites should forget what was wrongly practiced in the Egypt.

The order of being holy because God is Holy does not have exceptions (1 Pe 1.16). Whoever has questions of what is permitted or not should study what the Bible says about the subject. If you are doing something that was condemned, ask for forgiveness and repent from your mistake. Jesus warned that the person of who the scandal came from will have eternal punishment (Mt 18.7).

Balaam was warned by the angel of the Lord, who actually informed that the donkey would not take him to Balak, in order not to curse the people of God (Nm 22). Even after being adverted, he loved the retribution of impiety and taught the Moabite women to seduce the Israelites. Be careful in order to not be used to corrupt a small one who believes in the Lord, for punishment will be severe.

Sexual revolution will take many people into eternal condemnation. However, we should not look at this but look up to Jesus, the Author and Finisher of our salvation and faith (Heb 12.2). Don’t let anything that comes from the enemy make up your head, taking you into making mistakes and consequently into the eternal judgment. It is better not do something in order to prevent yourself from falling into transgression.
