…that your rejoicing for me may be more abundant in Jesus Christ by my coming to you again.

Philippians 1:26

Unlike many Christians, Paul was not afraid of being called to the Lord’s glory. The apostle did not even think about cowering; after all, for those who had his enlightenment dying was gain (Philippians 1:21). Many do not have the courage to obey the “Go” command issued by Jesus (Mark 16:15), fearing that something unpleasant might happen to them. However, even if dying is what it takes to speak of the Gospel, we must go.

When a Christian has this understanding, he or she pays no mind to any threat that the empire of darkness might make directly or indirectly against them, for they know that being with the Lord is infinitely better. However, Paul weighed his words and thought it would be of the utmost importance to continue living in the flesh because in this way he could be more helpful to the people of God. What matters is to be doing our best for the Kingdom of God.

Paul’s words teach us that our concern should be to fulfill our mission in the Gospel. We must seek the Lord to receive new inspiration so as to inspire other people. Without any doubts, the opportunity to announce the Message that transforms is one of the greatest blessings we have received from the Father. However, he who misses such an opportunity cannot even imagine what a disastrous decision he has made.

Paul chose to remain in the flesh so that the glory of the brethren in Philippi could increase more and more through His ministry in Christ. Because we have the same work to do, we must strive for people to know the Lord as God, the supplier of all our needs. If we do the work as it should be done, we will enrich our brothers and sisters, thus enabling them to taste all heavenly gifts.

There will not be another time to do the most important work of all times: win the lost. If we falter now, millions of people will be lost forever, so we need to let them know the gift of God. We cannot waste our time with what is useless. Whoever is wise will strive to use all means to speak of divine love. The Lord blesses those who endeavor.

What do you ask God in your prayers? Do you worry about secular matters or ask God for more wisdom, power and opportunity to do the work of the Gospel? If your motives are worldly, you do not know the true wealth that is in store for those who dedicate themselves to God’s service.

Fight for the wealth that does not perish. To achieve this end, go up to the lost ones and speak of the divine love without, however, despising those who are already saved; after all, they also need someone to minister the Word to them. At all times, be used by the Lord to bring the knowledge of the Truth and give more of yourself so as the glory of our brethren in Christ may abound more and more!

In Christ with love,

R. R. Soares
