27/05/2017 - ACTION FROM SPIRIT OF ERROR

So he said, ‘I will go out and be a lying spirit in the mouth of all his prophets.’ And the LORD said, ‘You shall persuade him and also prevail; go out and do so.’ 2 Chronicles 18:21

Micaiah described what would happen in the war which Ahab and Jehoshaphat would join sides and participate. The King of Judah did not seem to understand that that was a spiritual battle. Graciously he accepted to go with Ahab oblivious to the malignant workings in this situation. Even though they knew that the Lord is infallible in what He says, they that are steeped in sin, deluding themselves, expect that God’s edicts are not confirmed and believe in the spirit of error. Why steer away from the Word?

That battle would be the end of Ahab and Jehoshaphat did not perceive it. The King of Judah lost the opportunity to speak of what he did in that territory when he ordered that the population be instructed in Truth, improving the lot of everyone. Even those who paid due taxes lived in peace and gifted him presents. However, outside his mission it was as if he were on vacation from his faith. Seeing everything that was happening he did not serve as an instrument to the Lord.

Micaiah the prophet ended up saying that evil had divine permission. But the King of Judah did not attribute any significance to this. Those who are far from the Father don’t understand why bad things happen. On seeing their family being decimated, falling into crime, dying prematurely, divorcing and practicing all sorts of iniquities, how many wake up to repent, seek mercy from God that He may help, deliver and free them?

At times like these it is common to see someone like Zedekiah to wound the prophet. The slave to sin is religious and is jealous that others were used to perform give the message. He couldn’t even do it, because he was not in the presence of the Lord. Jehoshaphat heard Ahab send Micaiah to prison but did nothing about it. Finally, on being taken, the man of God spoke to the wicked king declaring that he would not return in peace. Even so, the king did not repent. Poor sinners!

Never doubt the word delivered by the Lord or by one of His servants. This was the last time the king heard a message from Above. Years previous, Elijah warned him to mend his ways, or there would be no rain until the prophet said so (1 Kings 17:1). As was seen, the Kingdom of the North went through the worst drought ever to occur during three and a half years. Elijah shamed and destroyed the prophets of Baal and the idols in the presence of Ahab (1 Kings 18), who even so did not repent.

There are people who will never bow down to Truth. To acknowledge divine will is better than any sacrifice or prayer. Those who are bound to religious traditions will be dominated by error, but one day will regret this insane attitude. Some never seek life because they have given up and do not believe anything can be done. However, Jesus said: “I am the resurrection and the life. He who believes in Me, though he may die, he shall live.”  (John 11:25). Now is your time!

It is incredible!  Even bearing witness to so many of Ahab’s mistakes, Jehoshaphat went to war by his side! This king was very close to being killed. Even though he had heard that God had authorized an evil spirit to deceive Ahab, Jehoshaphat did nothing to counter the evil plan. Mercy! Don’t be stubborn like this man. Chose to obey the Lord.

In Christ, with Love,

Lord! We need to pay close attention to You! Even though Jehoshaphat sought and saw Your glory, he allowed himself to be fooled by evil Ahab and almost died on the field of battle.

Our life is more important than the temporary alliances. It is bewildering and sad to discover this too late because we did not seek You first, and subsequently allied ourselves to sin. Help us to compare everything to Your testimonies.

Why didn’t Jehoshaphat take Your word and the fear of You to Ahab? Because he did not listen to You, he affiliated himself to this wicked king and underwent grave danger. On Your touch we have to take refuge in You so that we are not destroyed. Amen!
