Then he invited them in and lodged them. On the next day Peter went away with them, and some brethren from Joppa accompanied him.

Acts 10.23

The Lord was doing a work in the life of Cornelius, a centurion who gave generously to those in need and prayed to God regularly. God touched the heart of that man, and he is doing the same in the hearts of many people. The Most High has a purpose: to save lives. Regardless of whom he sends to you asking for spiritual help, you must be a servant faithful enough not to hinder God’s plans.

God is not sitting with his arms folded, but because many times we act like selfish people, instead of as servants, we end up hindering his beautiful works. Do not judge people, not even for their filthy acts. With God’s anointing and wisdom, talk to them about the redemption that the Lord can carry out, because those who believe in the Word will experience the heavenly gift.

The house that welcomed those strangers sent to Peter did not belong to him, but he invited them to enter nevertheless. Perhaps he felt in his heart that he should make such invitation and, probably, received permission from the owner of the house, Simon the tanner, to do so.

A gesture of love can lead many people to transformation. Therefore, never refuse to receive those who are sent to you by the Lord; after all, being his servant means that you do not have another option but to do his will. Today, due to the violence in our society, it is not prudent to receive strangers, but in many cases, under God’s guidance, this can and should be done. Even if you do not receive them in your home, you can receive them in your heart; but first, make sure it comes from the Lord. God’s servants must always wait for his guidance.

Surely, what servants report back to their master can help him make wise decisions. As long as God is in control, all things will work for the good of those who love him (Romans 8.28). Never rise against God’s plans, because he knows how to lead his children to a favorable result. Be always watchful of opportunities that arise, because the Lord never opens a door for no reason.

The following day, Peter accompanied the servants of the centurion. Do the same for those who are sent to you. It is always good to be in consecration and watch and pray while the meal is being prepared.

The wonderful work carried out in Cornelius’ house proved that God was in control. Those who are guided by the Holy Spirit, in addition to being used for God’s purposes, will learn many lessons. So, whenever you have the opportunity, bring other people with you; they can be useful in the mission and perhaps learn from what the Lord will do.

In Christ, with love,
