24/12/2016 - AFTER THE SEPARATION, THE PROMISE

And the Lord said to Abram, after Lot had separated from him: “Lift your eyes now and look from the place where you are—northward, southward, eastward, and westward. Genesis 13.14

When the mocker is cast out, contentions and sufferings disappear.  That’s how peace returned to reign among Abraham and his shepherds.  We do not know how long the patriarch resisted the idea of separating from Lot.  However, when he felt it not to be viable for them to continue together he requested that his nephew part and he did.  Soon peace returned and with it the glorious promise of the Lord.  After Lot’s departure the Lord made promises to Abraham.

It is necessary to see what is stopping you from hearing God’s word.  It can be a friendship, resentment, or a secret hidden in your heart.  If you are uneasy you will not seek the Father, and He can do nothing in your favor. Often times, by ignoring the lessons from Above, we forfeit receiving our blessings from Heaven.

Abraham had to have an important attitude: to look.  Whoever loses times accounting for the evil that was done them displeases God! Whatever happened has already happened and if you have no blame, try to forget the reparation.  Free yourself from what bothers you and avoid falling again into similar attitudes. If you don’t, you will suffer.   You must see what you are given now and in eternity.

The Lord told Abraham to look over the lands of the north, south, east, and west; that everything in reach of his sight would belong to him.  Likewise when you are delivered from whatever bothered you, you will see the Promised Land – the Gospel – because God will give you everything that you see.  While your attention is focused on your problems the Father cannot talk with you.

Abraham should travel through the land´s length and width, so as not to squander one hand span of what would be handed him. This way he could relish that which would be conceded to him.  The portion which God gave him is like a farm where there is of everything; good soil to grow crops, water falls to produce energy, forests from which to extract wood, grow cattle and mines to pan for precious stones.

It is interesting to notice that as he looked to the east he saw all the fields of Jordan, similar to the Lord’s garden.  This was the land that Lot coveted, not knowing that God would give it to Abraham.  To the north, south, east and west the Almighty promised it all to Abraham.  If Lot had remained with his uncle, maybe Abraham would send him to care for those fields.  However, Lot did not understand the divine plan, delaying it.

Having heard from God the promises that were for him and his seed, Abraham erected his tent and lived by the oak forests of Manre, near Hebron and edified and altar to the Lord.  As for Lot it was never heard that he built any altar to the Lord.  Poor man!

In Christ, with love,

God of the promises!  Abraham saw that it paid to be faithful to You, to respect Your Word, obey Your will, for as soon as his nephew left, peace returned.  With this You made promises to him.  My prayer is that my brothers do Your will.

Those were days of trials for those things bothered the patriarch.  Lot ignored that there should be no contention between him and his uncle.  But how many times did Your servant ask Lot until he understood that separation was an act of righteousness? So then, the promises came.

Look at the humble and wronged that are suffering innocently at the hands of those who should fear You, but only want more from You.  That they may wake up to the fact that you are the avenger of all the oppressed. Amen!
