But Joshua said to the people, you cannot serve the Lord, for He is a holy God. He is a jealous God; He will not forgive your transgressions nor your sins.    Joshua 24.19

Do not serve the Lord just because you have to. Seek to learn how He is, and what are the requirements to walk besides Him and fulfill His purpose. Then, you will become irreproachable and pleasing to God. Whoever is not prepared to obey God can end up like Rehoboam, grandson of Solomon, who failed as a king, because during his reign, the kingdom of David was torn in two.

Why didn’t Rehoboam learn with his grandfather and dedicate himself to do good, since God had said that David had been a man according to His own heart? Why was he influenced by the company of young people and despised the counsel of the elders? If you act in such a way, you will see that your decision, in the end, was not worth it. Those who honor the Lord are honored by Him.

The warning was given to all of them, but probably many of them did not consider seriously what the Spirit of God ordered Joshua to say. During all generations, the spirit of rebellion has found hearts to dwell, and so it has obtained success in its destruction. Who have you sheltered and obeyed in your heart? Your actions show if it is the Lord or the devil. If you choose the second one, he will destroy you.

Nobody can serve God if not with a sincere heart. If there is any kind of deception, He will not accept that person. Those who do not submit to the Most High are always filled with problems, dominated by struggles and defeated in battles. Now, the Holy Spirit is Omniscient, and therefore, knows all things. The Lord says that he who works deceit will not dwell within His house (Ps 101.7).

Besides being holy, God is also zealous. Therefore, take notice of what kind of servant you have been. It is not difficult to walk in the Father’s presence in the right way, as long as you strive to do what is right. If you allow your own interests to dominate and deceive you, convincing you that you are fulfilling His will, there will be a day in which you will not be able to do anything to get rid of your condemnation.

Whoever wants to walk with the Lord and have Him besides him as his place of Refuge, Fortress, and Rescue during the moment of the attacks from Hell, must seek forgiveness and the blessing of walking with Him faithfully and honestly. Otherwise, when you least expect, the devil will ask for permission to oppress you because you were unfaithful in your heart.

Accept Joshua’s counsel and serve He who does not need service. He wants to see you blessed, filled with the Spirit and with spiritual gifts to bless millions of oppressed people. Be prosperous forever!
