Lead me, O LORD, in Your righteousness because of my enemies; make Your way straight before my face.

Psalm 5: 8

According to a divine instruction King David said the prayer above and then by order of The Holy Spirit he wrote it down for it to work as a map of what must be done so we’ll be able to find the solution to our problems. The enemy will negotiate no truce and to prevent his filthy desire we have to be guided by the righteousness of The Lord – The work Christ did on The Calvary will deliver us from the anger of our adversary.

The righteousness of God grants us complete deliverance considering that Jesus – The One responsible for achieving it on our behalf – suffered all our condemnation. It doesn’t matter what might be attempting you or the harm the devil might have caused in your life; as you understand that your deliverance will take place by the work done by our Master in your favour you must take possession of your place in Christ and, thus, you’ll be delivered from all the attempts from the empire of evil.

Our enemies are demons who insist on saying that we won’t be able to be delivered from their treachery. They try to tempt us with their filthiest sins and even if we might have resisted their assaults it turns out that they will keep on insisting by trying to make us deceitfully think that only the fact of being tempted signals that we’ve already fallen. The Lord Jesus, for instance, was tempted in all things yet He never sinned (Hebrews 4: 15). In fact, a Christian needs to know their rights in Christ so they won’t be deceived by the devil nor will their faith cool off.

No word spoken by the ambassadors of hell is true. The secret not to let the devil fill your head with a barrage of lies is to stand firm in The Words of God. That’s the way you’ll regain faith, and you’ll be able to walk freely. Only rubbish can come from the devil and all of his deeds are nothing but deceitfulness; and that’s the reason why you must pay no notice to him.

You ought to recall all the suffering of Jesus: He took all our diseases, our sins and the chastisement which brings us peace (Isaiah 53: 5). So, don’t surrender to any treachery of Satan! You must know that if you get disconnected from the divine righteousness you’ll be delivered straight into the devil’s clutches; on the other hand, by standing firm in the revelation of The Word you’ll be placing yourself into the hands of The Omnipotent where the devil will never be able to oppress and make you suffer again.

As the psalmist asked The Most High to straighten up the divine way before his face he didn’t mean to say that the path of God was sinuous but that he couldn’t see it clearly. As a matter of fact, without the help of our Father no mortal will ever manage to see such path. He asked The Lord to guide him and make him see the way of good and success. Those who say the same prayer will never face failure.

We also need to say a prayer like that one at all times; otherwise we won’t be able to progress in our spiritual life. Only with the divine assistance we’ll be able to see the same way taken by our God and then we’ll be walking in it. Once our eyes are opened or the way straightened up before us we won’t stumble but we will be making our steps straight instead.

In Christ, with love,

Lead me, O LORD, in Your righteousness because of my enemies; make Your way straight before my face.

Psalm 5: 8

The worst attitude we may ever take is that of despising the divine righteousness and trying to go on in life with our own one. Being imperfect, men are not qualified to face up the powers of darkness and come out of a battle victorious – which means that, if they go into war without the company of our God, they are bound to fail. Therefore, you must never do anything without turning to The Most High first and without urging Him for help. God is The Truth (Deuteronomy 32: 4 b) and that is the reason why He will never let you be caught up in any unsolved entanglement.

Men’s righteousness has no solid ground; it comes from a mind ruined by sin and that is why they do not have any authority to face the enemy. The devil is well aware of that reality and what pleases him most is driving men into taking attitudes without the assistance of The Holy Spirit. Those who act independently cause the adversary to be victorious over their lives. On the other hand, those who go for war in The Name of The Lord will undoubtedly come out victorious.

The righteousness of God is pure and powerful; besides, it doesn’t have and it never had any condemnation in itself and, with it, we can defeat all of Satan’s assaults. God has never failed to fulfil His duty and to honour His promises; after all, His righteousness is perfect and it cannot be defeated by anything.

Demons are our enemies. If they could they would devour us alive. In fact, all they are up to is our complete destruction. Therefore, those who let themselves be carried away by the offerings of the devil are unaware of the risk they are taking. Satan will never make friends with the servants of God since we were made to the image and likeness of The Lord Himself (Genesis 5: 1 b).

Without The Most High’s guidance we will neither know where to set our feet on nor will we know which direction to head to. That is indeed something to be taken into good account considering that without the divine direction we would not even know how to confess our sins either. It is as though, for instance, someone headed for a police station to confess a crime without the assistance of an attorney. Immoral and crooked police officers could induce the person into confessing a crime they have not committed and for which the police needs to give a reasonable explanation.

Only in the conviction of The Holy Spirit men can recognise their errors and confess them. Those who make any declaration without the assistance of the divine righteousness may get incriminated for something they have not done. It is The Spirit of The Lord who convinces us of sin, of righteousness and judgement (John 16: 8). Look out not to go beyond what The Word of God states, considering that many end up being punished by errors they have not committed. The knowledge of Truth sets men free (John 8: 32).

Ask The Lord to make your way straight and to show you exactly what to say and what you ought to believe in. That way you will be able to set foot on safe ground. Many are the divine promises and when He grants you one of them you can face the powers of darkness and defeat them. Therefore, for you to wrestle against demons who will always try to deceive you, you must cry out for God´s help.
