So Elijah went to present himself to Ahab. Now the famine was severe in Samaria. 1 Kings 18:2

God only uses those who are firm and obedient. He cannot give His power and the responsibility of His works to those who are inconstant in their faith. The work God did today through us will have eternal repercussion. Some lives will be saved, but sadly, many will be lost. Our responsibility in representing Him is great. For that reason, we have to be serious and submissive to His directions

Present yourself to whomever the Highest orders, no matter who it is, and do it whenever He directs you. Ahab persecuted Elijah in every part; he ordered every kingdom to search the prophet (1 Kings 18.10). However, Elijah could not doubt the new orders given nor fear the fury of the tyrant, because the Lords plan included that meeting, which would surely end forever that drought problem.

Notice how the Lord did not send him directly to the king. That teaches us to always seek the divine direction and trust in it. Those who are guided by the Holy Spirit are like the wind, we do not know where it comes from or where it’s going (Job 3.8). The important thing is to trust in what the Highest says and act according to His words. God’s direction will always be the best in every situation.

Man sees very little. However, the Father is omniscient and knows the best way to solve any difficulty. None of man’s solutions will solve a problem completely, even though it promises complete victory. Only God knows the causes and the solutions to all problems. “He has done all things well. He makes both the deaf to hear and the mute to speak.” (Mark 7.37)

Ahab and his family’s attitude caused dry season and hunger that spread through Israel. If the Lord hadn’t sent Elijah, His people would be lost in idolatry and witchcraft that the irresponsible king was implanting in the land of the sons of God. Those fools mocked God and were led by the enemy’s lies.

When Ahab saw Elijah, he called him the disturbance of Israel (1 Kings 18.17). That shows that Ahab knew that a man of God had closed the sky above the nation, and it did not rain (1 Kings 17.1). Elijah’s response to the king was direct: you are the true disturbance of this nation, just like your family (1 Kings 18.18). Sadly, many people will only change their mind after great suffering; others will have partial change, but will never turn to the truth.

The end of the suffering caused by the dry season was approaching, but first it was necessary to prove who the real God was. Elijah heard from the Almighty what he needed to do and he did just that. The result was that the people of Israel returned to the Lord, and those who worshiped the enemy were ashamed. Our greatest mission is to glorify the Highest.

In Christ, with Love,

Supreme Commander! May we Always be firm and obedient to Your orders, so we may not get in the way of Your plan. It does not matter how You will use us. Even while being chased as the enemy of the people, Elijah came before the king.

Your servants should never fear threats, or the strength of those they will face. Elijah knew he was responsible for the change that had to happen in Israel. May all your servants act like Elijah.

Lord, we have to follow Your purposes, not ours. Problems become worse to those who do not serve you, but to those who serve you, trials are an opportunity. After proving who the real God was, the long awaited rain starter falling on that land.
