And when they came to Chidon’s threshing floor, Uzza put out his hand to hold the ark, for the oxen stumbled. 1 Chronicles 13.9

The more we learn about the work of God, the more we understand of the fear that we owe Him. In fact, we have to do the divine will with fear and trembling (Ep 6.5). If not under the direction of the Lord, we may work against the divine plan. For that reason, seek to be prepared so that you are not ashamed. Uzza thought that he was doing something beneficial to God, but he was fulminated. This fact made King David to be exceedingly sad.

The servant of the Most High that desires to see his work established, and not burnt, must seek to live in communion with the Father. Whenever a person identifies that something is not right, yet still waits for directions from Heaven to put his hand on whatever apparently needs help, he will be very rewarded. It is likely that any other devout person would have done the same thing as Uzza.

However, does God need help from man? Does He allow us to do something for His work as an act of our kindness? Whenever He uses us in His plans, He is undoubtedly making us a great favor. Without the divine anointing, whatever we do for God will be simply a waste. Nothing that is inside of us, or that can come from us, is able to accomplish something as if God needed any help.

Since our vision of the spiritual world is almost blind, we cannot know if what we propose ourselves to accomplish is right or wrong. If we do not have divine orientation, what we propose ourselves to work for may be of evil intent, and by doing so, we may work against God’s plan. Now, the Lord will never be surprised nor will He forget to be prepared in order to accomplish His purpose.

Our Biblical orientation is to be diligent to present ourselves approved before our God, as workers who have nothing to be ashamed of (2 Tm 2.15). Then, in a spectacular way, the Lord will lead us to speak and act, or not speak or act, depending on the situation. Therefore, in the end, we will see that what the Lord instructed was what was really needed. The Lord has been prepared for a long time to accomplish what needs to be done today.

Poor Uzza! When he saw the oxen stumble, he thought the ark would fall. Since he was in the flesh, he was struck. In the whole Bible, we see that many times there was no escape out for God’s people, but with a simple act, the Lord showed that he knew how to conduct and care for those who were obedient to Him.

Probably, the Most High had prepared a wonderful miracle for that moment, but Uzza entered in the way. This made King David very sad, but since he feared the Lord, he did not sin with his lips and was filled with respect towards the Most High.

In Christ, with love,
