Rebuke is more effective for a wise man Than a hundred blows on a fool.     Proverbs 17:10

When rebuking someone who has always been prudent, be moderate when you minister them, because, rebuking is good, and rebuke is more effective for a wise man than a hundred blows on a fool. The real correction comes straight from the throne of God, when we are in Spirit. Then, confession is a mere testimony for that person, for, as for us, we know that the Lord has used us, and because of that, the work was accomplished. The glory belongs to Him!

Rebuke must not be long or repetitive, because those who are good and have fallen are already sorrowful with what they have done and they only need to be lead to the throne of grace to receive forgiveness. Therefore, when we are used by the Omnipotent, we must be spokespersons of Heaven, and not have any other purpose besides His. Thus, it is not necessary to keep repeating what was done, but just forgive the offender.

It is right to rebuke those who listen to the devil. However, may this be done in the Holy Spirit, to preserve the faith and love this person has for the Lord and for the others. Be careful not to exceed! The purpose of rebuke is to lead the offender back to communion. Stay alert so that you don’t insert some concept of yours in that person who has fallen, but only the Word of God which is the real medicine.

Do not let overcome you any feeling of spiritual superiority when you go talk to the person who was in error. Allowing you to be drifted by a false holiness can cause scars, which may never be undone. Never go away from what is written, for the Bible not only never fails, but it is our safe Guide in all other matters. Respecting the Holy Spirit is to follow His instructions in the Word.

Remember that the Creator is the only One that can punish all disobedience, but He also has the mission to save. Jesus was clear when He said that we must not judge, unless we want to be judged. Now, the brother who fell is a strange servant. That is why, only the Lord can condemn or acquit him. It is easy to see the speck in the eyes of your brother, but first we have to remove the plank from our own eyes (Mat 7:5; Luke 6:42). Like the Lord said, whoever does such thing is a hypocrite.

On the other hand, every prudent accepts the rebuke of any brother in Christ, because than, not only do they show a humble spirit, but also show they are ready to change their behavior in order not to sin again. Many times, a simple word spoken by someone of God, or even by a person who does not have a lot of good judgment, is already enough for that person to accept it as a divine touch. This happened to David in the case of Shimei, in the house of Saul (2 Samuel 16:6-7).

The lesson that stays is that the fools should learn with the prudent, because they suffer more than one hundred blows compared to the person who is prudent. Even being severely mistreated, the foolish person doesn’t come to senses. Realize that these instructions are given to use so that we can correct ourselves and be treated in a different way.

In Christ, with love,

Lord of prudence! We need to know You as the God of prudence, who helps us see evil and avoid them! Surrounded by so many promises that You have made to those that respect You, we must only be watchful to feel Your touch.

If one day we go astray, use people to warn us of the dangers we are going through for giving ear to the enemy. We do not wish to deviate from Your beautiful plans and precepts. Mercy! We are Yours forever.

As Your servants, we can be used to rebuke a brother or sister who happens to be lost in the webs of temptation. If this takes place, we have to be sensible so we don’t exaggerate, and only speak according to Your will. Thank You and amen!
