And when they left their gods there, David gave a commandment, and they were burned with fire. 1 Chronicles 14.12

After the Philistines saw that king David was defeating them, they tried their last shot. This is the enemy’s strategy. He always increases his power of threat and seduction. If David had let the children of Israel get hold of those idols, the contamination would have come over the holy people. Even if the idols were made of gold, the servants of the Most High should not need that metal. What they received from the Lord was far more valuable.

The strange gods are not a match for the Lord. However, even being so, they can deceive the chosen. For example, this world worships illicit sex. If the children of God are not wise, they will fall into this trap. For the world, pleasure, rest, and wealth accumulation is more important than serving the All-Powerful. Be watchful so that the enemy’s schemes do not catch you nor enslave you.

Be careful when you advise someone who fell in sin, for if the description of what he did comes into your heart, it can enslave you spiritually. Always watch so that you do not fall in temptation, because a suggestion that comes from someone who does not speak according to the Lord might be a trap. Those who serve the Lord must be watchful as Jesus was. He recognized that Satan was speaking though Peter (Mt 16.23).

Everything that comes from the evil one is harmful for our lives, so it must be rejected. Evidently, no sweet water will come from a bitter spring (Jm 3.11). In the same manner, from an evil heart, such as the devil’s heart, there will come nothing good. Never exchange the streams of living waters for the enemy’s lake of filth.

Satan will never give up trying to have you under his power. However, if you are firm in what the Lord says, you will resist to his attempts. The enemy is cunning enough to deceive those who give him attention. His way leads to death, and he who follows him will walk towards eternal condemnation. The only way to be far from the evil one is being in communion with the Father, who protects all who trust in His Word.

King David new that nothing from the anathema should be found in the hands of those who serve God. Therefore, as he found the gods of the Philistines, David ordered them to be burnt. He did not want to reuse something that had been an object of worship to strange gods. Do not use it not even as simple decoration. This also applies to a pornographic magazine, an immoral movie, or any other indecent material. Get rid of all those items!

Remember that those who please the Lord are His eternal pleasure. Before His servants even ask Him, He already concedes them what they have claimed for. Even the desires of the heart of those who walk in the straight path allow God to help and protect them. It is worth serving the Creator, walking in His paths, and dedicating our lives to Him completely.
