So they went up to Baal Perazim, and David defeated them there. Then David said, “God has broken through my enemies by my hand like a breakthrough of water.” Therefore they called the name of that place Baal Perazim.  1 Chronicles 14.11

The example set by David in the incident on the hill of Baal Perazim serves as a lesson for every time we reject the attacks of the enemy. Some ties were left behind by the philistines, such as their gods and also the fact that they retreated and came back. Since he feared the Lord, David knew he needed the Lord´s authorization for the upcoming battle. When he consulted with the Most High, he was told to do it differently the next time.

Another point to observe was that the newly appointed king of Israel knew that the Lord would give him the victory by his hand. Therefore, he prepared himself to come as a worker who knew how to manage the sword of the Spirit – the Word. Then, when he set out to war, he was certain that the Lord would give him the necessary ability to win. He knew that his role was to fight the wars of God.

For David, it didn’t matter if the philistines believed in some god, if they had a mighty army, because the strongest and best prepared Warrior, who never loses a battle, the Almighty, was by his side. The son of Jesse went into battle certain that he would come out victorious and because of that he did not allow fear into his heart. This is how we must proceed, for, if we have the Most High guiding us, we will always come out victorious.

We must have David´s disposition in all battles we face. Instead of complaining with God why the demon afflicted our life, we need to march firmly to obtain success and defeat the evil sent to destroy us. Those who fight alongside the Omnipotent are never defeated or embarrassed. Those who believe in Him are victorious.

The king of Israel confessed that the Lord defeated his enemies, but by his hands. Have this in mind and, instead of looking for someone who will say the prayer of faith in your favor, prepare yourself for that and do it yourself. If the Most High was with David, He can also be with anybody who serves Him wholeheartedly. We have to learn to serve the true God with people like Jesse´s son.

David turned into a war machine, destroying his adversaries, and he was never hurt. Those who have the Lord at their side will do the same. This is how He wants to see us in the battles: walking with our head held high and marching to face the enemy, without fearing any of his threats. When we act in the Name of Jesus, He remains with us.

David´s actions were like a breakthrough of water, which no one can hold it back. Nobody was good enough to defeat him, and for all those that do according to divine will, certainly nobody will be able to face them. When fighting with the weapons of righteousness, we become invincible and we glorify the Lord.

In Christ, with love,

Lord of victories! David´s boldness fascinates us and thrills us, however, it does a little bit more than that, for it shows us that this must be our way of facing the enemies and fighting Your wars. Thus, we will never come out defeated.

Did it do any good when the philistines took their gods of gold so that David would covet and keep them and then be cursed? He commanded them to be burned! What a lesson! You must never fear what comes from the enemy. God is greater!

We want to see You defeating the enemy by our hands. This way, many will give You praise, and many others will be admired when they hear about Your accomplishments. May we always be like a breakthrough of water. Amen!
