You will not need to fight in this battle. Position yourselves, stand still and see the salvation of the Lord, who is with you, O Judah and Jerusalem!’ Do not fear or be dismayed; tomorrow go out against them, for the Lord is with you. 2 Chronicles 20.17

The first instruction given by Jahaziel to the Israelites was for them to go against the enemies that had joined against them. They could not hesitate nor hide themselves. Their location was written in details, so they would not get confused. That battle was already won, as long as they did not behave as the other war soldiers do, but like the Lord had instructed them.

The Lord did not promise to send a strong wind to drag the enemies somewhere, nor send angels with swords to hurt whoever attacked His servants. He said that the Jews would find their opponents at the end of the valley that leads to the Jeruel desert (v. 16). Without a doubt, the people of God need to live closer to Him, because, just like he instructed the Israelites in that battle, they will also receive batter direction to be free from their oppressors.

The people of Judah were ready for this challenge. Certainly, the Lord would not guide them to a difficult situation, but would make them witness His intervention. He would also show to the other people that, when a king respects Him, anyone who rises up against His people will be put to shame and confusion. Although the opponents were heavily armed with all the weapons they could gather, they could not match the power of God.

Now comes the best part: they would not have to fight in that battle. The Man of war, the Commander of the heavenly armies, ensured that His people wouldn’t need to get their hands dirty. Although the enemies were many, God would make sure and show them that His people were not forsaken and, because of that, they would behave differently from the other nations because, after all, they served the Almighty. Whoever trusts the Lord always wins, wins and wins. What do you have to say about that?

When they arrived at the place they had been instructed to, the people should stop. They could not retreat, nor hurry, but stand face to face with the enemy. Until what point does the Lord want our faith to remain strong so we can see His salvation? He will let us know. Whatever God prepares will be better then whatever we imagine. However, remember that we need to walk by faith, not by sight (2 Corinthians 5:7). The brave have to submit themselves to the guidance of the Most High.

God spoke through Jahazel: “Oh Judah and Jerusalem; do not fear or be dismayed”. Whoever trusts must believe and must not let panic or man´s tactics take control of his life. Judah only needed to obey the divine commandments in order to win the battle. The only difference is that they did not need to hold on to human weapons, but let the Lord act. Never be anxious, because God’s methods are revealed in every battle.

Jehoshaphat and his people should not fear and retreat, because the Almighty would be with them. Do not fear, because even if the divine plan sounds like madness, the eternal God will confirm His Word when you believe and obey. Amen?

In Christ, with love,

R. R. Soares

Lord! Your instructions were complete and detailed, so that Your people would not make any mistake. Could we also have instructions so that we will not fall in the devil's lies? It is evident that the answer is yes.

When we pray under Your guidance, we cannot doubt. If there was something we needed to do aside from what You have instructed us, you would certainly guide us in the clear path.

Our trust in You grows each day in every situation. Afterwards, in every opportunity, we need to show that we truly believe in You. Enliven us and use us to fulfill Your plan.
