25/06/2013 - CONTENDING EARNESTLY FOR THE FAITH

Beloved, while I was very diligent to write to you concerning our common salvation, I found it necessary to write to you exhorting you to contend earnestly for the faith which was once for all delivered to the saints.

Judas 1:3

The Spirit of the Lord gave Judas the desire to write to the Christians, and what is registered in this verse can change your life forever. So you’d better keep an eye out because God may also give you the desire to intercede, bless and do something for someone. When the divine guidance comes it is peremptory and must be received as a commandment. Besides, the Almighty would not order us to do something that was not of the utmost important.

Therefore, whenever God inspires you to do something, accept it as a commandment. Someone might be about to leave this world and if you do not heed Him and do not do as you are told, you will not only be in rebellion but you may be regarded as responsible for the destruction of that life. Jesus felt he had to go to Samaria, and once He was there at Jacob’s well, He preached to a woman who had had five husbands (John 4:7-26).

Judas said he was very diligent to write. This means that he could not talk too much or too little. It is important not to add anything to the Word of God. When someone tries to act on his own when doing what the Lord commands, he always disrupts the divine action. It is important to do everything based on the Word without deviating from it. He who adds to or subtracts anything from the revelation will suffer serious losses.

According to the apostle, salvation is the same for everyone, which means that no one has a better or inferior salvation. The Most High will never look at a person and tell him or her that he/she will receive a more perfect salvation; nor will He say that they will receive a lesser type of salvation. Thank God it is the same for everyone, so there is no such a thing as protégés or neglected ones.

The exhortation is for you to contend earnestly. Do not be discouraged when facing problems, for the faith you have been given – which came to light when you heard the Word of God – has the power to work miracles. The truth is that the Lord looked at your life and when He saw the dire situations you would go through, He gave you the right measure of faith so that you could get rid of your difficulties.

You already have the faith to overcome your struggles. However, if you have been defeated in a battle, it was because you did not know this truth. Keep in mind that what bothers you now can and will be undone if you use the faith God gave you. Your faith has the power to provide solution to all your current and future problems. So, get up and go to war and do not be overcome by the threats of the enemy. What he shows you is false and deserves no credit; he is a master of deception, but what the Lord says is true. Cast out all evil now in Jesus’ Name.

In Christ with Love,

R. R. Soares
