Watch, stand fast in the faith, be brave, be strong. 1 Corinthians 16:13

All that was necessary for our salvation Christ fulfilled on His death. However, to enjoy this sacrifice, taking the greatest advantage of an abundant life, we must observe the instructions that are given us through the Bible. Through these celestial teachings we acquire ability and power to remove problems without damage. The victory with God is total, complete, painless and without reproach.

The first instruction in this verse is “watch”. This involves not only being alert so that the enemy does not reach us with his evils, but we must also guard and keep the words offered to us by the Most High regarding to our rights. Obviously without the continuous and ongoing help of the Lord we will not even notice when the devil approaches or tries to convince us that his deceptions and arguments are better than God’s

If we waver in our faith, the adversary leads us to think that many biblical proscriptions have lost their meaning and significance and that today we can be allowed to practice that which is not specifically and clearly condemned in the Scriptures, because if it were really a sin, God would have clearly stated it. At the outset the same line of thinking should lead us in the opposite direction: if it were allowed the Bible would declare them to be blessings. The flaw in observing somebody else’s, instead of God’s testimony, is a trick of the dirty kind.

Whoever does not feed on the Bread of Heaven, is rendered without strength to even rebuke any evil, much less an attack from the devil. It is recommendable to constantly meditate on the Scriptures.  The only way to keep vigil is to contrast and compare any suggested idea to God’s directions or instructions. Feed on the word, and you will be well prepared to win any battle.

Our posture in face of temptations has great value; if we show weakness in times of anxiety our strength will be insufficient (Proverbs 24:10). Never behave in a way to show weakness, fear or doubt, but behave as someone who knows their rights and knows that the devils can be defeated whenever they appear. The certainty that God is with you in battle will cause you to win. Faith is your victory!

Even when facing a giant opposition, never show frailty, because the Lord is your Strength. See now, they who have the All Mighty at their side do not stumble or tremble in any circumstance or situation. Finally, the counsel from Heaven is that you strengthen yourself believing faithfully in God and not shying from malignant threats; after all, the Name of Jesus defeats any and all evil.

In natural life, besides the food that we consume for our nutrition, sometimes we have to take vitamin supplements and practice physical exercises. In our faith walk, the same must also be observed because believing in your own strength without knowing your position in Christ, what belongs to you in the Son of God and how to defeat the enemy, will cause you to lose. The saved should never confess to or admit defeat.

In Christ, with Love,

Counselor Lord!  We praise You for your directions as to what we must do to defeat the enemy.  We know that without Your help we gain nothing.  Without You we will not even be able to watch!

How can we take root in our faith if we do not even know our rights? Your instructions and directions do us enormous good. The enemy always reveals himself to be prepared, but if we are anchored and rooted in our faith in Jesus, the malignant will have to flee.

If You are with us, we will obtain victory. We need You and we need Your power, to be strong and to bring You joy. We praise You and thank You for our victory. Amen!
