12/04/2016 - CRAZY AND SINFUL DECISION

So they made their father drink wine that night. And the firstborn went in and lay with her father, and he did not know when she lay down or when she arose. Genesis 19.33

Lot could not have imagined that the well-watered lands of Sodom were a trap to his daughters, for what took place in that land was absolutely the worst garbage that could have ever contaminated the most well intentioned and fearful servants of God. Every decision with no biblical basis turns out to be crazy and sinful. Afterwards, with time, those who took that decision realize they have committed a wrongful act, which will have consequences that will last eternally. 

Even though Lot was called righteous (2 Pet 2:7), his daughters were contaminated with the lewd demeanor of the people of the town that they embraced as their country. Lot was afflicted with what the sodomites did, but that did not prevent the spirit of error to take over his family. We have to do more than just be afflicted with the sins of the lost; it is necessary to teach our people the way in which they must walk in, so that when they grow old, they do not depart from it ( Proverbs 22:6).  

To those that give in to temptation, the world becomes small, and that which is wrong seems to be the only option. The Bible warns that without prophecy – the revelation of the Word -, the people cast off restraint (Proverbs 29:18). If we want to see our family free from the corruption of the world, we have to seek the revelation of the Scriptures and transmit it to our family members; otherwise, we will see horrible things happening to them. Those who follow the Lord´s guidance never stumble. 

If you don’t have time to pray and feel from God how to proceed, don’t say yes to any proposal; in this case, it is better to say no rather than being responsible for something that will bother you very much. The devil is always around us, seeking a gap in order to fulfill his work. If we give him an opening, even if it is small, he will not leave it for later and he will accomplish his objective. To be vigilant and pray is an orientation given by Jesus to all those who are saved. 

The sinners only focus on the present moment and on the opportunities that come before them, and when they are being pressured by the enemy, they act in a very disastrous and dangerous way. Not few saved ones act this was as well, although the Word warns that he sins who hastens with his feet. Those who don’t seek the Lord´s help in order take the right course of action will act in a wrong and reprehensible manner. It is never too much to warn to the fact that we belong to God and we are not independent beings. 

Lot´s daughters knew what to do in order to fulfill their wishes. Unfortunately, they did not see that only part of the world they knew was destroyed, and that they could have found husbands for themselves, especially amongst the family of their father. Their plan was elaborate in Hell, and thus, two sons were born. From them arose two nations that caused many trouble to Abraham´s descendents. Be careful! Sin has a very high price – eternal torment. 

 

Since it only happens to those that oppress the people of God, as time went by, never again have we heard about the Moabites and the Ammonites. Live in holiness, and then, the good things your descendants accomplished will be heard forever. Afterwards, through all eternity, you will receive the reward for having given a good heritage to the Most High.
