And I will make you swear by the Lord, the God of heaven and the God of the earth, that you will not take a wife for my son from the daughters of the Canaanites, among whom I dwell.  Genesis 24.3

It is common for the servants of God to face problems in the family because of their position and fear of God. Therefore, they should delegate to others some tasks, as did Abraham to his servant. Whoever receives a task like this should strive to fulfill it with love. If he does not do so, he may be accused of not being a suitable assistant – and we must be so with one another. Whoever loves the Lord must fulfill his calling!

Those who are made assistants need to be watchful to do exactly as they have been ordered and not fail in their task. As we examine the steps given by the servant of Abraham, we notice that he considered his master’s request as a commandment of God and did not evade or speak evil of the patriarch. On the contrary, he obeyed with joy, and his effort was rewarded.

The Most High puts to test those who desire to be great in His presence. That servant was the most experienced; he controlled all of Abraham’s savings and was blessed by the Lord with the mission of seeking a bride for Isaac, which would be an ancestor of Jesus two thousand years later. Since he knew how great and important was his endeavor, the servant did not let himself be led by any feeling but faithfulness, doing what he was told with all his experience and fear of God.

Do everything that comes to your hands according to the anointing given by the Lord to work for the Kingdom – not according to your physical capacity. Jesus taught that if there is division in a house, it will not stand (Matthew 12.25). In the same way, if someone who receives a convocation does not have the spirit of a servant, but spitefully executes the order, he will finalize the work with falsehood or sloppiness. In the end, he will see his great loss.

It does not matter where you serve or what you do; only serve. Undoubtedly, your effort for the Kingdom of God will bring you a great reward. According to the decree of the reward, edited by David, you will inherit an equal share of all the other servants (1 Samuel 30.21-24). Don’t do anything that damages the divine work. It is what the devil has tried to do during all times, and will continue trying.

In a certain day, David sighed and said he wanted to drink water from the well of Bethlehem, where the philistines were entrenched. He put to test his brave men, and at that same moment, three of them broke in the camp of the philistines, caught water from that well and brought to the king. As did David, still today, the Lord puts His servants to the test. However, there are some who let the opportunity go and do not fulfill what was requested of them. Poor servant!

Those who truly serve the Most High receive messages that encourage other brethren. But also, many times, they are guided to give them tasks. However, some people don’t do this, because they only like to receive without making effort. When a servant of God gives you a mission, even if it is really simple, fulfill it. If you do so, certainly the Lord will be with you in that task.

In Christ, with love,

God! Abraham was old and felt that it was the moment to seek for a wife for his son. Guided by You, the patriarch saw in his oldest servant an ideal person to be commissioned for this task. He obeyed!

This request had come from You, for Abraham lived in communion with You. In the same way, You have used us to give tasks to some people that we deem as servants, but unfortunately, many have disappointed us and You as well. Father, we ask for these lives!

It did not matter if the servant had been faithful until that point. When he obeyed Abraham, he proved his love to You. Those who only call themselves servants will be ashamed on the Day of Judgement. Help them, Lord!
