Now David went over to the other side, and stood on the top of a hill afar off, a great distance being between them.   1 Samuel 26:13

Saul gathered his best soldiers to hunt David, as if he were an extremely dangerous criminal. According to his judgment, the king´s plan was to kill the person who was a threat to his kingdom. As we know, Saul was disturbed by a homicidal spirit. Therefore, many times, while David played the harp to help Saul get rid of that demon, the monarch tried to hurt the son of Jesse with his spear.

By looking at what happened to David, we can conclude that those that are saved will never fall in the hands of the enemy. Incredibly, in a small territory like Israel, and although he was hunting down David for many months along with three thousand soldiers, the furious Saul was not able to put his hands on the pastor of Israel. Likewise, anyone who tries to persecute you because of righteousness will not succeed.

Quite frequently, people who persecute us are delivered into our hands as a proof that the Holy Spirit dwells in us. Therefore, if you are innocent, don’t fear threats from anyone. By having the Lord by your side, you will come out unharmed against any attack of the devil.

Abner, the commander of Saul´s army did not stand the operation of God, which gave him a deep sleep. He and all his soldiers and king Saul were not able to remain alert. Thus, the Lord was able to show how a true servant of God must proceed in all things. Once he realized he could exterminate Saul, the shepherd, who later became king of the Israelites, did not take advantage of the opportunity to do evil over the one who was anointed.

To prove that he had been right beside Saul, David took the spear and the jug of water from the king and with all the necessary caution, he challenged the chief of the persecutors with the evidence at hand. That gesture spoke deep into the heart of the Lord. Then, the Most High commanded that this episode be registered in the Scriptures, so that we may act just like Ruth´s great grandson, because vengeance belongs only to the Omnipotent.

No child of God should be afraid to challenge those who persecute them, as long as they take the necessary measures not to expose themselves or be struck. Actually, we have to live in the hands of the Master in such a way that no spirit of fear or cowardice will fall upon us and make us retreat in our journey of faith. The Almighty God is looking for people who fully trust in Him.

Let the Spirit of God guide you in the Word, for He is the One to tell you what to do and when to do. The Bible is your best reference book to know the Lord´s will, for He has chosen you to be His temple in this world. Therefore, do not get involved with any temptation or illicit act.

In Christ, with love

Protecting God! It is beautiful to read how David trusted in You and did what was just before Your eyes. Even if all things confirmed that Saul would destroy him, You did not allow the son of Jesse to perish. You are wonderful!

Abner got scared at David´s shout, because for him, that should have been a nightmare. The soldiers thought David´s boldness was incredible, and at the same time, they were marveled with the protection You gave him.

This fills us with joy and confidence, for we know that while we battle Your wars, we will be kept safe by Your strong hand. Thus, we will not fall in the clutches of the enemy. Praise be to You for the protection and love You devout to those who belong to You!
