Have I not written to you excellent things Of counsels and knowledge.   Proverbs 22:20

People lose a lot when they despise reading the Bible, when they don’t learn what it says and don’t meditate in its words. In the Book of God, we find excellent things concerning us, those which He uses to teach us to walk in safety and avoid the traps of the evil one. In Him, we discover who we are, what we have and what we can do to fulfill the divine plan for our lives. 

In God´s revelations, we find the certainty of words that give us power so that we don’t fall in the traps of the enemy and, thus, leave no doubt in others about our intentions and our character.  Those who don’t speak according to the oracles of the Lord can leave behind bad impressions, which, later on, can come back and harm them. In addition to the words of man which don’t help at all, they can be used as snares against themselves.  

Our neighbor needs us, but the only way to truly help him is to talk according to what the Lord says. Even if they have a distrust of our character, this will be undone by the effect of the truth that will come out from our mouth. Furthermore, the Holy Scripture says that the servant of God talks according to His words. When you speak the Truth you are helping the person much more than you can imagine. Halleluiah!  

Pay attention to what I am going to say now: the person who has mental disability, intellectual, motor or from the Word, and they are not helped by you, they are actually being stolen from that which you did not do for them. Then, the Lord will defend their cause on judgment and plunder the soul of those who plunder them (Proverbs 22:22,23). Mercy! If all the saved ones meditated on the Scriptures, they would live better and would not stumble. 

Unfortunately, verses like these go by unnoticed, as if they had no message for us. Due to the fact we did not pay attention to someone who was in need, we find ourselves in court under a serious accusation, with the Lord as that person´s lawyer. Then, the life we gained in Christ is taken away from us, and what is left is just religious practices that do us no good. 

Why don’t we spend time on the excellent things that have been written to us; after all, through them, we would avoid a series of problems. On the other hand, knowing what we are given by the Most High, we become true and good children, because the way we live shows what we are in the presence of God. Have we not been presumptuous or perhaps lied when we say that we serve the Lord?

Let me remind you that we will be justified or condemned by what we say or do not say (Matthew 12:37). Most assuredly, the sin of not examining the excellent things the Most High wrote us and not living them will lead many people to be disappointed every day, and be like crazy people on the last Day, when they realize they are not amongst those who are saved.
