26/05/2013 - FALSE ASSURANCE

Woe to you who are at ease in Zion, and trust in Mount Samaria, notable persons in the chief nation, to whom the house of Israel comes!

Amos 6:1

The assurance of God’s servants is real. Even if the evil one comes up with the most intricate and audacious plans to try to defeat the Lord’s children, he will not achieve his goal. Those who accept Jesus’ invitation and draw near Him will not be taken away, under any circumstance, from His hands or from the Father’s hands. However, it does not mean we should be apathetic. He commanded us to watch and pray lest we enter into temptation (Matthew 26:41).

God’s work is not a leisure activity. Father and Son work until the present days and he who is wise will work on behalf of the Kingdom of God too. Those who stay put and don’t work for the kingdom of God don’t get his attention. In God’s work, there is no place for rest.

He who idles instead of sowing the Word or during the harvest of the fruits is void of understanding. The truth is that we will have no other time to do something for the Kingdom of Heaven. He who bears precious seeds will enjoy the divine reward throughout eternity (Psalm 126:6). In fact, those who devote their time to the Lord will be rewarded by Him on the Great Day.

So do not waste your valuable time on travel, vacation, leisure or on whatever sinners deem normal. We have a mission to fulfill and therefore we should not allow ourselves to be deceived with false rest. The day will come when we will enter into the rest of our Lord. Strive to make the most of yourself, for He who is faithful shall bring the prize to all who believe in Him.

The best we can do for ourselves is not to rest or seek the pleasures that the world offers, but rather seek the glory of God. Not even all the fame someone might have compares to what the faithful servant gets from the hands of the righteous and true Judge (Romans 8:18). Our philosophy of life must be as it is written in the Word of God.

If you have been blessed enough for the other members of the church to seek help from you, do not let it go to your head. Always be a servant of the Lord because to whom much has been given, from him much will be required (Luke 12:48). If you are not found wanting, your reward will be full. Fight for what is in store for you!

One day, the righteous Lord will reward every servant of His and then many will despair begging for mercy. Christ taught us that we must strive to enter by the narrow gate and follow the narrow path, because the wide gate leads to destruction (Matthew 7:13). I pray that you may never enter by it.

In Christ with Love,

R. R. Soares
