Trust in the Lord, and do good; dwell in the land, and feed on His faithfulness.

Psalm 37.3

Nothing is better than trusting in God. We achieve this condition by being born again (John 3.7), because once we are regenerated by the Lord we no longer have our weaknesses from the past. However, he who does not make the decision to drink from the cup of salvation, and to become a new creation and a servant of the Lord, will not be able to fully trust in the Mighty One, nor will he receive power to overcome his battles.

When we trust in God, we do not become desperate in the midst of trials, because we know that he in whom we trust will never forsake us. Because the Lord is our rock, we are positive that the devil will not come out victorious, and that no evil will come upon us, even if all evil forces threaten to destroy us. Those who know God’s promises have no fear regardless of the circumstances and resist all temptations.

It is important to note that it is not enough to claim that you fully trust in the Lord; you need to show that even at times of tribulation, which for many is a sign of defeat; for you a trial is just another battle that you will overcome. But if you become desperate, start begging the Lord to help you and not let the devil to succeed in his schemes, you will not be fully trusting in him.

When you put your trust in God, you will receive his power to do good. Then you will become a reference to others, and when they look at your life, they will want to believe in the Lord too. The same way as Christ and his apostles acted by faith, so will you. And your testimony will be very important before others.

Only those who trust in the Lord and do good are able to dwell in the Promised Land – the gospel. Those who do that are always upbeat, have a joy that infects everyone around them, speak positive things and, when entrusted with a mission, they do not shrink from it. Those who are lost need people like these, people who are real servants of God.

Why is it that some Christians are winners and others are not? Those who are winners feed themselves on the Bread of Life; and that is why God’s anointing is upon them, because their obedience to God delivers them from all troubles. I pray that you too may be considered a person who fully trusts in the Lord.

In Christ, with love,

R. R. Soares
