And you became followers of us and of the Lord, having received the word in much affliction, with joy of the Holy Spirit

1 Thessalonians 1:6

Whenever people who are compromised with the Truth minister the Word of God, there are genuine conversions. Those who walk in flesh can only generate sons and daughters of the flesh; but those who live in the presence of the Lord receive incorruptible seeds and not a religious message (1 Peter 1:23). That is why “their converted ones” become good disciples, genuine imitators of who evangelizes them, and therefore, good imitators of the most High.

Paul and his group were very faithful in fulfilling what Jesus had ordained. They wouldn’t just present the Gospel to the people, but they also encouraged the people to become imitators of the Lord. This way, the non-believers were shocked, because the testimony of the newborn Christians was so strong that it was very impressive to all. Today, the same thing must happen to those who are saved, because the world is in need of the manifestation of the sons of God (Romans 8:19).

However, conversion is not automatic, considering that newborn Christians are just like newborn babies. If we allow them to become undisciplined in their relationship with God, they will not be good testimonies, and might bring shame to us. That’s why our main concern should be to make them disciples of Jesus, teaching them the way they should follow, so that even when we pass away, they will stand firm.

Therefore, it doesn’t make a difference if they receive the Word in times of peace or in times of tribulation, because all things work together for the good of those who love God (Romans 8:28a). We should not be anxious about anything, because the Lord always knows what’s best so that the message of the Gospel is sowed. We must be willing to be directed by our Father, so that the divine works are done according to His will.

We should always have in mind that we were ordained to make disciples (Matthew 28:19a). The people we lead to the Lord are sent by Him to learn to do the same that we once learned from Jesus and His followers. The Master gave us His own example, that’s why we shouldn’t follow any other examples. Whoever’s in the light shall not fall (John 11:9b). Our manual is the Holy Scripture, and what’s written there is what we should do.

The sons and daughters we generate for Christ are very precious and they should give us reasons to be proud of, and not need reprehension. That’s why we should invest time to produce in them a Christian character; this way we will be certain that our mission was accomplished. However, our mission should be to generate imitators of the Lord, and not religious people.

Another very important issue is the Church that we should present to our Master. The church should be pure, immaculate and full of good deeds (Ephesians 5:27). Therefore, there is no magic for this to happen; it will only happen through the imitation of Christ. The best way to know if our people are living in the presence of God is the joy of the Spirit that we should all have.

In Christ, with love,
