One thing I have desired of the Lord, That will I seek: That I may dwell in the house of the Lord All the days of my life, To behold the beauty of the Lord, And to inquire in His temple.  Psalm 27:4

David was used in this verse to teach one of the greatest secrets that made him a conqueror. The word used is שואל (shâ’al), which, in Hebrew, has a much broader meaning than our ask: demand. That is what it’s done in a lawsuit to take back a possession, or compensation for any damage. The Lord made the psalmist write his action and his purpose so that we do the same and dwell in the House of God all the days of our life.

Undoubtedly, this changes the whole scenario. While we understand that we have to ask, we keep begging all the time for something that many times, we will not attain. Now, it’s as if a person asked a judge, who is their friend, to do justice in their favor. The right thing to do is to file a petition, by opening lawsuit and causing the judge to examine the plea and issue a fair trial.

David understood that it was his right to live in God´s House, but he had to do like the good lawyers do in order to exert that right. When he entered into a demand (plea) with the Lord, he knew he would have to fight with the One who is perfect, but, actually, the Lord wishes that everyone does this and that they may enjoy of this incomparable blessing. If you understand what you will gain by living with the Most High in His house, enter with your demand.

Jesus taught that ever since the days of John the Baptist until now – the days of His ministry -, violence was done to enter into the Kingdom of Heaven and only the violent ones take hold of it. This is exactly what you must do, otherwise you will not be able to take hold of that which belongs to you. One thousand years before Christ said this, David had already understood it, and that simple shepherd turned into the king of Israel. What will be said and written about you?

The subject is demand, require, take possession and not accept anything less than what the widow from the parable told by Jesus received (Luke 18:3-5). Although that wicked judge did not fear God nor respect any man, her insistence made him decide to do justice. Jesus said that God, who is just, will certainly do justice to those who persevere in claiming what belongs to them and do not falter (Luke 18:8). Your decision is what counts!

In John 14:13, the Master declared that He Himself will do all what He is asked (in greek, the verb is aiteó, which means demand, claim) in His Name. You will not be wrong if you translate it as the desire that a junkie has when they want to use drugs. After all, this is what made the syrophenician woman when she “asked” Jesus for help to deliver her daughter, who was miserably demon possessed (Matthew 15:21-28).

You need to act quickly, for you only have this time to be fulfilled. Research, seek and enter into the holy demand. Don’t be content until the matter is not resolved (Ruth 3:18). You will be accountable for what is revealed to you, if this does not happen.

In Christ, with love,

Righteous Judge! We have entered in a demand with You for the right to live in Your house – Your Word. We do this trusting in Your promise, Your declarations and in the testimony given to our heart by You Spirit. Answer us!

The Lord Jesus is our great Lawyer. In His Name, we have come with this “request”. There is no reason why You will not answer us, for we are clothed with Your righteousness and in accordance to Your will.

When Moses understood his position before You, he prayed for You to answer or risk his name out from the book of life. Of course we dare not so much, but we don’t want to give up on what You have given us. We love You with Your love!
