Rather let it be the hidden person of the heart, with the incorruptible beauty of a gentle and quiet spirit, which is very precious in the sight of God. 1 Peter 3.4

When Peter talks about how women should behave in the faith, he talks about adornments that, though they are beautiful, they do not serve for God to be glorified through them. This does not mean that women should not care about their hair, golden jewelry or pleasing and nice clothes. However, the apostle highlights that the true adornment that is acceptable to God is on the inside, the hidden person of the heart, with the incorruptible beauty. Whoever follows the Lord’s recommendations will be successful.

There is no way that God can despise a contrite heart (Psalm 51.17), that is meek, gentle, and submitted to His will. Therefore, whoever wants to please the Omnipotent and open the way for Him to act must strive to fulfill the Biblical recommendations. On the contrary, this person will not be able to execute part of what they are supposed to do in the Most High’s work. The Lord requires so little from us!

God is Spirit and seeks for worshippers, who may fulfill His work and serve Him in spirit and in truth (Jo 4.24). Therefore all people, whether men or women, whether in a position of authority in society or not, whether they live in a simple manner or not, must know the divine will and strive to fulfill it. A Christian does not need to step over anyone or harm someone else to occupy the position that was destined for them.

Whether you use adornments or not, make your heart become the most important part of your life for the Lord. Submit your own self to the divine commandments, fight to please He who called you, and fulfill the will of the Father. Then, you will never be disappointed with your faith, for the Lord will lead you to occupy your proper position in the Body of Christ. Then, if you put the Kingdom of God and His righteousness in first place, the Lord will promote you (Mt 6.33).

Jewelry should be used freely, but without being scandalous. You should not feel better with them than with a heart that is sensitive to the Holy Spirit’s touch. Thus, in all things, you will become blessed. God is not a man, that He should lie, nor a son of man, that He should repent. Once He has declared something about you, He will fulfill it (Nm 23.19), even if Heaven and Earth pass away. Go until the end in your faith!

The incorruptible beauty of a gentle and quiet spirit is something that is not changed or transformed into evil even if it may be in touch with people that are used to doing evil. Therefore, the best way of living in this world is always behaving in a simple and humble manner, so that whenever the evil one comes with his temptations, you may be outside of his line of action and inside God’s perimeter of operation – in holiness. Hallelujah!

You can do your best in your outward appearance, but this should never promote you before other people, because before the Lord, this does not happen. God sees a person just in the way that He created him or her. So our hearts must be opened to God in such a way that whenever we need Him, we will be answered. This is the way!

In Christ, with love,

Lord! Although You are the Creator of all things and excel in competence, You are meek, simple, and loving. Therefore, anyone who needs Your help will never be despised, even if they walked in evil ways. To You be the glory!

May we never fall in the temptation of focusing only in the outward appearance while the interior is rotten. May our worry always be to worship You in spirit and in truth, and to fulfill Your requests in order to be attended.

We cannot be influenced by the thought that the use of jewelry, fine clothes and flattering words please You. We desire to have a righteous, gentle and quiet spirit before You. What is most important for us is to obey the Biblical requirements. Thank You!
