And Bezalel and Aholiab, and every gifted artisan in whom the LORD has put wisdom and understanding, to know how to do all manner of work for the service of the sanctuary, shall do according to all that the LORD has commanded.”

Exodus 36:1

Our most important mission is to do the work to which we have been called, just as Aholiab and Bezalel who said “yes” to God’s calling. They understood that the gift they had was given by the Lord and they employed it in the divine service. Actually, they went even further by teaching others and because they were honest they were responsible for receiving the offerings brought by the people for the work of the sanctuary.

There’s nothing wrong in being meticulous in God’s house, and there is nothing nobler than to invest our strength, skills and wisdom in the Father’s work. Those who surrender to the Lord to do His work or help other people will come to the conclusion that what they did was an investment and not a waste of time or resources and in return they shall receive much more than they invested.

It doesn’t matter where we have been called to serve, but how promptly we respond to the Lord’s calling. Health, resources and skills are granted to us for a higher purpose. Those who say “yes” to God soon realize how they have thrived in all areas. Besides, the Lord’s hand will always be stretched out over the ones who are used by the Holy Spirit. Even a gesture of charity is a work done for the Master, therefore the right thing to do is to help the needy because in so doing we will be fulfilling a divine ordinance.

Everyone is gifted in some way or another: some are skilled to do manual labor, others for intellectual works, etc. Those who follow the Holy Spirit’s guidance have the assurance that when the Spirit asks them to do something He will give them the opportunity to be rewarded. In this way, they’ll be receiving more and more from the divine hands. All the things you have – even your smile, your holy gaze and other attributes – should be offered to the Lord.

The two biblical characters mentioned in this message not only did the work personally, but they were also willing to train others. For this reason, the Lord’s house was magnificent and ready to receive God’s people. You should do the same: devote part of your time and skills as a pleasant offering in the eyes of the Father, and you’ll see that He will reward you. Giving something good, in the Name of the Lord, to whoever is in need is highly rewarding.

You have to use the grace you’ve been given in a responsible way. Honesty is one of man’s most important traits of character. In Bezalel and Aholiab this trait stood out in such a way that Moses ordered the resources for the building of the sanctuary to be entrusted to them. It means greater things can be entrusted to those who use their gifts (intelligence, skills, etc.) with wisdom.

Something everybody should keep in mind is this: what we receive must be shared. Those who keep their knowledge and gifts to themselves are not doing what’s right; on the other hand, those who help others will never lack anything.

In Christ with love,
