“Surely the eyes of the Sovereign Lord are on the sinful kingdom. I will destroy it from the face of the earth. Yet I will not totally destroy the descendants of Jacob”, declares the Lord. Amos 9.8

The kingdom of Israel exceeded the limit of the Lord´s patience. God used all means to lead His beloved to good sense, but they did not give ear to Him. This serves as a warning to those that don’t care with the warnings of the Word. One day, when you least expect, you will see that the Omnipotent forsake you. Then, all you will have left is eternal torment. Be careful so that this does not happen to you.

One error many people make is when they allow themselves to be carried away by the temptation that they are special, and for this reason, they can transgress. Now, conscious sin is harder to be forgiven, for the person knew what she was doing. Only true repentance will lead you to be forgiven. The struggle of the person who is saved against the malign traps is constant. But if he really belongs to God, he will see the way out in the Scriptures and will make use of it.

False sense of security is a danger to the Christian who lacks judgment. It looks like the person who piles objects, and every time he places something out of the pile, it shakes. With time, it will collapse. So is the person who adds a little sin in her life and thinks nothing will happen to her; however, there will come a time where everything will crumble.

Before collapsing, Israel felt safe. Both Amos and Hoshea struggled for this not to happen; but unfortunately, the ten tribes did not convert. Prosperity in those days blinded them in such a way that they did not see anything wrong with the golden calves made by Jeroboam. Likewise, today, there are those that don’t think there is anything wrong with apostasy. False sense of security in prosperity will lead them to defeat.

We act like the Israelites, for we have not truly sought the Lord, but we have sought what He can do for us. That is why we don’t even examine our procedures. When we feel our actions are not right, we pray for forgiveness, however, as soon as we feel we have been forgiven, we go back to doing the same thing. The Word of God has warned us, but it seems we don’t care about His orientations, and thus, a sad end awaits us.

The prophecy of Amos is very useful for our days, for all those that give in to sin will be destroyed by the sword. The judgment will not change, but the Most High wants to change us so that we are not condemned. Only those that love Him abandon their path of error. Our attitude regarding the Word will guide our judgment.

When Jesus returns, those that are in iniquity will go straight to eternal condemnation; however, the godly will be spared. If this day were today, what sentence would be issued about you? So, you know what you must do, don’t you? The Lord warns you because He wants your well being so that His dream may be fulfilled in you. Therefore, don’t frustrate him.

In Christ, with love,

R. R. Soares

Forgiving God! How foolish were the Israelites when they rejected Your warnings. Unfortunately, we have also done the same, and the danger lies in the fact that Your Word will be fully completed. Father! We need to make amends with You wholeheartedly.

We need to be free of the lust – rampant desires – that the Bibles talks about. We need to respect You and gladden You with the type of life You want us to have, Your children. Afterall, You have saved us so that we enjoy Your holiness.  Halleluiah!

Lord! It is good to live without any accusation from our conscious, resting in Your arms and feeling Your presence. If we are well with You, we will live a blessed life and will not be condemned on the great Day! Help us!
