And the LORD commanded us to observe all these statutes, to fear the LORD our God, for our good always, that He might preserve us alive, as it is this day. Then it will be righteousness for us, if we are careful to observe all these commandments before the LORD our God, as He has commanded us. Deuteronomy 6.24,25

These verses show that there are blessings that wait for those who observe His statutes: those who fear the Lord will be rewarded with good always, will be preserved alive, and this will be counted as righteousness for them. The secret is to fulfill all the divine commandments. Since this is a guidance that came from the lips of our Creator, we must take it seriously. After all, when we fulfill the divine plans, good things will come our way.

To fear the Lord is to respect the divine will concerning our lives. Everything that He says in the Holy Book is what He desires us to have and to do. Even if some orientations are against our will, and our natural flesh does not want to obey them, the best thing is to accept them, for the Lord knows what He is saying. God would never order something to harm us, enslave us, or prevent us from being accomplished. Everything that the Almighty says is for our own good.

There is a reward for obedience: our good always. For example, someone may work with trade, and be very successful in this area. However, if the Lord calls him to do something different – such as helping the needy and preaching the Word to the wicked in a land where there is persecution – this will not bring him any financial gain, but he must prepare himself and go. In eternity, he will be rewarded for his obedience.

Those who fulfill the divine statutes will be preserved alive. Thus, what else do we need? With this declaration from the Lord, He promises to keep those who obey Him from the evil attacks. Therefore, no one should do anything out of his own decision. If they act according to the divine calling, they will be able to resist any problem, and at the same time, vindicate that they should be preserved alive.

Then, the act of fulfilling His statutes will also be counted as righteousness for them. This means that even if you are not living a good moment, not observing the Word of God, and the evil one wants permission from God to attack you, the Lord will consider that your obedience to His calling as an act of greater justice. Thus, He will not deliver you to the hands of the evil one.

It is interesting to note that we must obey carefully to what the Lord requests, so that we may do well in everything. Thus, we must always be in communion with our God and Father, and every time we make any decision, we must do it according to the faith that He gives us. We cannot obey His orders as if it were something heavy, but with joy in our hearts.

In Christ, with love,

R. R. Soares
