Now therefore, restore the man’s wife; for he is a prophet, and he will pray for you and you shall live. But if you do not restore her, know that you shall surely die, you and all who are yours.  Genesis 20:7

The story repeated itself for Abraham in Gerar, and once again, the Lord delivered him. It is necessary to walk in communion and obedience, like the patriarch did, in order to have the presence of the Almighty active and present. The truth is that we if we want to have God’s promises fulfilled in us, we need to demonstrate Him love. Abraham had the commandments and kept them, so the divine promises became reality in him.

The order was clear to the kingdom of Gerar: return that woman to her husband. If Abraham walked as many servants of the Lord have done recently, he would not be able to have the divine help as he desired. This teaches us something: we are answered in the proportion that we love the Most High and obey His orders. If we live as if He did not exist, His hands will not keep us. There is no favoritism for the Omnipotent.

Those who are God’s prophets, or that have any other ministry, know how to pray for those who suffer. Abimelech had to return Abraham’s wife, and Abraham would intercede for the king and his household. Certainly, the prayer of the Lord’s servant would make the problem of the King of the Philistines’ household to be solved. The same happens today. When those who live to fulfill the divine righteousness pray, there is much power (James 5:16).

The sterility in the house of the leader of the Philistines was upsetting. He was always sad because of that situation. But if he obeyed the Lord, doing what was right, he would be able to count with the prayer of the servant of God, and then, he would find happiness again. It is necessary to have hope to be successful once again. If you have lived only to solve your current needs, you have not enjoyed the best in life.

Abimelech had the option of refusing to obey the Lord, because he had, as he declared, taken Sarah innocently. However, who could disobey the Lord, who is never wrong and knows all things? Those who choose not to hear Him, even after receiving the divine ordinances, are completely mad. After they realize that the devil entered in their lives bringing evil, they conclude that if they had obeyed the heavenly Father, they would have been kept from the works of the enemy and would have had the perfect solution to any problem.

If Abimelech had not obeyed the Most High’s order, he would certainly die. The sentence is the same today. The Bible shows several attitudes that we should take so that the divine power operates in our favor. Therefore, do not let yourself be led by the enemy’s lies, but execute God’s orders. We reap what we sow (Galatians 6:7). Whoever does not fulfill the Word and pretends not to know the consequences is the worst of sinners.

The house of the philistine king was by a thread. If Abimelech had not acted correctly, he and all that he had would be destroyed. Reflect if you have not done any evil to someone, and therefore you have suffered all kinds of evil. Make the right choice and live! Halleluiah!

In Christ, with love,

God, faithful Keeper! When Abraham saw Sarah being taken as the wife of Abimelech, King of Gerar, he must have prayed to You. It seemed like that was his fate, but You never let Your servant be ashamed and offended in Your honor. You are beautiful and good!

There are many saved people who have suffered the same shame, but have not been kept. Undoubtedly, they have done wrong. There are many unpleasant things that happen to us, which we may not know the reason at the time, but one day, You will show us the truth.

May the prophets pray for us, for many times we stop doing business with them, because we respect Your Word and see their gullibility The truth is that You will reward us due to everyone that we help. We thank You for the kindness of using us.
