And Joab said to the king, “Now may the Lord your God add to the people a hundred times more than there are, and may the eyes of my lord the king see it. But why does my lord the king desire this thing?”  2 Samuel 24: 3

We must pay attention to what the Lord says through His servants and even unbelievers.  Indeed He has even used animals to show which path should be trod (Numbers 22:23). Often times decisions we think we take or whose support we are about to lend do not come from God but yes from the evil one.  This was the case for David.  He wanted to take census of the population but this was not the Lord’s direction. Besides the testimony that the Almighty gave to his heart, He used Joab to warn him.

The army commander used wisdom to open the king’s eyes but he was as if he had been overtaken by vanity.  Be careful not to let the devil to enter into your life.  After this happens it will be difficult to get rid of him and will only be possible with divine help.  After temptation enters, what is wrong is considered to be right and what is right becomes bad and worthless to your sight

David was unbending in his malignant stubbornness and his faithful servant put out great effort to convince him.  Joab showed him that all were his servants, who had been given to him by God and would do everything he needed to overcome his enemies even unto death if necessary.  However, just like someone impassioned who doesn’t hear the voice of reason nor listens to God, David demanded that the census be taken.

Even seeing the king’s steadfastness Joab tried to use his friendship, speaking straightforwardly that what he sought was not good.  He who is in Spirit senses what is behind an attitude, like the use of clothing, a smile, the desire to move to another house, or to hire someone. Since there is a demon in that person’s life, only a powerful prayer is capable of delivering that person from a great and imminent fall.

If you are being admonished by a servant of God and have not given your attention, it is well worth listening to.  It could be he is being used as a prophet. When this occurs, it is a sign that not only you will pay the price for your unjust attitude but also your family members and even other people who have nothing to do with your malignant proposition will suffer.  Those who have wronged and allowed the devil to enter must repent soon.

The census was taken but this didn’t work towards David’s benefit.  No treason ever benefits the traitor but will only add to the price he and others will pay for his disastrous conduct.  Therefore be vigilant and pray! If you do fall into temptation, great will be your pain through what you will suffer and also by what will happen to others through your exclusive guilt.  God is your Friend and always tries to guard you from the acts of the devil.

After the carnal, demoniac and egotistical pleasures, there will be accounts to pay.  The worst is that this will be thrown in your face by others who will remind you of your deceitful and colossal error.  Why give ears to the malignant one and not to Jesus, your Friend?
