Happy is he who has the God of Jacob for his help, whose hope is in the Lord his God. Psalm 146.5

The great hidden message in this verse is that the Lord desires that His children might be blessed in everything. This was one of God’s purposes when He ordered David to write this verse in the Scriptures. Those who believe in what He speaks and call out for His help will have the divine help and will leave a beautiful lesson for next generations. The responsibility of being happy is uniquely ours.

Those who trust in the Most High highlight themselves among other people. This is what happened to Jacob. He did not have an absent God. On the contrary, he did things so that the Omnipotent would act on his favor. This is how the Most High wants to see us: acting by faith. Thus, the responsibility of being successful or remaining in failure is ours. Jacob proved that man’s conditions do not matter, for he who has a divine light will always be victorious.

Why is the Lord the God of Jacob? He was called in this way by several reasons that can be found in the life of this man, a patriarch of the Israelites. When the Most High revealed Himself to Jacob, he decided to have a covenant with Him. His commitment of giving his tithes showed that he knew how to negotiate (Gn 28.21,22). Besides, after making a prayer while Esau, his brother, that came against him with 400 men, Jacob prevailed in God, and his brother’s heart was transformed (Gn 32.9-12;33.4).

What happened to Jacob shows that the Most High can be your Helper as well. However, your answer to the Omnipotent’s orientation is what will make you victorious or not. It is good not to keep any sorrow or grudge, nor giving up your right. In another occasion, Jacob knew how to be firm with Laban, showing that the Most High had helped him ten other times when his father in law changed his salary. Thus, he closed the mouth of that man that wanted to exploit him.

Never put your hope in man or in civil, military, or religious institutions. Only the Most High is worthy of receiving your attention and your praise. He who addresses his prayer request to a saint, virgin Mary, or any angel is disobeying the orientation given by Jesus that we should cry out only to the Father. The person that prays to any other being that is not God is in fact addressing his request to the devil. Have mercy, Lord!

Whenever you pray, pray to the Father, in the Name of Jesus, and use what you learned in the divine Scriptures. Do not forget to let the Lord be your God, He who can do all things, and attends all those who address to Him their prayers. Then, you will know that He is a faithful Fulfiller of promises and that He does not make any distinction between people (Rm 2.11). The Most High will be of the size that You let Him be.

To be successful depends on how you believe in the Lord. Your faith is like a master that will drive you in the way you pray and at the right time. When you put your hope in the divine Scriptures, you become the person that the Most High destined you to be. The things that you understand through the Scriptures will be the portrait that God painted concerning your life.

In Christ, with love,

God of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ! Our goal is to be blessed. Thus, we must be always in Your presence, which is only possible if we have the light of Your face. With the enlightening that You give us through Your Word, we will be so.

You are our Helper, so we put our hope in You, our God. Nobody will be successful if they do not put their hope in You. It might seem incredible, but even as Your servants, for many times we look more for the attacks that we suffer than for You.

But today, beloved God, we are looking to You with the same determination that Jacob had, and so, in order to attend him, You started to be known as the God of Jacob. Those who know You in such a way will always excel. Help us to know You, o Father!
