Be strong and of good courage, do not fear nor be afraid of them; for the Lord your God, He is the One who goes with you. He will not leave you nor forsake you. Deuteronomy 31.6

The arrival of the sons of Israel in the Promised Land is a symbol of our entrance in the Kingdom of God. They encountered an inhabited region, full of cities, with all infrastructure that was common to their time. We walk into the true Canaan, the Gospel, with all the blessing we need. Others have toiled for us to enjoy their achievements and now we need only to follow God’s instructions.

God’s first instruction is for us to be strong, because the redeeming work already has been accomplished. Satan is defeated and has no power to touch the sons of God. The Most High will fulfill His promises, but, if you are not strong, the serpent will come with all its craftiness, making you believe that it is not worth it fighting for holiness or claiming what has been given you in Jesus.

Besides being strong, you must be of good courage. Good courage is one of the qualities we find in David. That is why he was used by God to deliver King Saul from the evil spirit that was causing him distress (1Samuel 16.14-23). These two adjectives were not invented by Moses. They were prerequisites for the sons of Israel to fight along with the Lord. Those who fear, who are apathetic or cold in the faith will not be God’s warriors.

Boldness was another characteristic required of the Israelites. The Lord knows that the devil will use whatever he can to frighten you, because the cowardly will taste the second death – eternal separation from God (Revelation 21.8). Do not allow Satan’s deceits to keep you from following God’s instructions. Never present yourself without the characteristics that the Most High wants to see in His sons.

The person who fears the enemy, even though he will not admit it, he is transmitting a message of rendition, defeat and submission to the devil’s will. It does not matter if the picture looks somber, or if the enemy is attacking you with all of its tools. The word of God guarantees that no harm will overtake you (Psalm 91). Therefore, never believe in the lies of the tempter.

However, beware! You must claim these instructions and fight in prayer until all of them are a part of your life; after all, the One battling with us is the Most High who, when He explains how we should present ourselves for battle, He shows that this is the only way He will be on our side. If someone goes into battle without God, he is already defeated. The teaching has been given and those who are in their right mind will be prepared not to disappoint the great Warrior.

Read again the requisites of becoming a conqueror and use them. If you obey the holy instructions, you will see the devil defeated when he drives his attacks towards you. When you follow the Lord’s instructions you will have His favor. It is worth noting that the Father has already chosen the good works prepared for us to do (Ephesians 2.10).

In Christ, with love,

R. R. Soares

God our Guidance! Besides being our Lord, You are our Master. Learning from You is the best we can do. The enemy lies to drag us away from Your presence and to make us fail to exercise our rights.

However, there is no reason for us to live skimpy lives of fear and worry because the devil cannot make stumble those who trust in You, if they are holding fast to Your promise. Thank you for fighting for us. We love You, Lord!

May we never cower before the evil one and that these readers will learn to trust in You, because those who have You as their Protector will reach victory against the forces of evil. We thank you for allowing us to believe in You.
