Praise the LORD! Blessed is the man who fears the LORD, who delights greatly in His commandments. His descendants will be mighty on earth; the generation of the upright will be blessed.  Wealth and riches will be in his house, and his righteousness endures forever,

Psalm 112:1-3

Psalm 112 begins with a praise – a sign that blessings will be announced. In this text, the Bible speaks of those who are successful. Being successful is not a decision made by God but by each one of us. He has already done whatever is necessary for us to be happy and true champions – and he who listens to His Word will realize that being victorious is something very simple to attain.

He who fears the Lord – who respects what He speaks through His Word – will be blessed. The divine promises that you understand through the reading of the Bible or the preaching of the Gospel are commandments that must be kept. By doing this, you will see God’s power acting in your favor, but that is just the first part of what is necessary, the second part is to take pleasure in God’s commandments. It is quite clear now: it is not enough to fulfill what He commands; you must take an enormous pleasure in fulfilling the orders He gives. If, for example, you tithe just because it is a divine requirement without delighting in doing so, you are failing to please the Lord and as a result you will miss out on the reward for such blessed action. Everything God commands us to do must be joyfully complied with.

The descendants of those who meet these two requirements shall be mighty upon the Earth – which does not mean that they will be violent or disrespectful of other people’s rights, but that they have a strong faith in God. So, whenever they ordain something, their decisions will be accepted by the heavenly authorities. The Church needs people like these, people who know how to take their position in Christ.

Your children will be upright and their offspring will be blessed. This is because the salvation we have found in Christ is beneficial to us and reaches our descendants. Fearing the Lord and delighting greatly in His commandments produce everlasting blessings for us and for our family. Is there a greater legacy than this?

Speaking of wealth and riches, God is giving us material and spiritual prosperity. There is nothing greater than knowing how to make use of our rights in Christ. Do not turn your descendants into mere religious zealots, but rather doers of the divine Word and in this way the Almighty’s hand will always be upon them. By living your life in this fashion, the suffering from which you have been delivered will never return since His justice cannot be undone; it will remain forever!

In Christ with love,
