For a mere moment I have forsaken you, but with great mercies I will gather you.   Isaiah 54.7

The creation of man was a moment of great joy and accomplishment for the Lord; after all, God made man in his image and according to his likeness to walk with him and partake in his beautiful and sovereign will (Genesis 1.26). In the beginning, God formed out of the ground all the wild animals and all the birds in the sky, and he brought them to the man to see what he would name them; and whatever man called each living creature, that was its name. But man sinned, thus opening the doors for the devil to enter and become the ruler of this world.

Once sin came into the world, the Lord no longer could allow man to remain in his presence, because since he is holy he would destroy man completely with the shine of his nature, and there would be no hope for mankind. So, for our own good, God had to expel Adam and Even from the Garden of Eden. They were forsaken by the Creator, who would never have made such decision if Adam and Eve had remained obedient.

Nevertheless, God did not forsake mankind forever – it was just for a mere moment. To man, however, it seemed like a very long time, because all of a sudden he could no longer count on God’s presence, help, mercies and other benefits that he used to receive from the Lord. But at the moment of Adam’s fall, the Lord started to create his plan to redeem mankind.

To the eyes of he who is eternal and has control over time and all things, this brief moment refers to the separation, which was necessary, as we have already seen. However, to us humans who count the hours and the minutes, this moment was long enough to cause a significant impact. Thanks to God, this is all water under the bridge because Jesus descended into hell, overcame the evil one and his angels who had dominion over us, and made us free.

The good news is that, with great mercies God gathered us. Even the person engaged with the most disgusting and filthy sin has already been gathered, and all he needs to do is confess his sinfulness in order to be completely delivered. Nothing can separate us from God, unless we remain in sin. All those who believe in Jesus’ work accomplished on the cross will be truly delivered.

God’s mercies guarantee forgiveness and restoration to those occupying the position of child of God. Those who are saved no longer have to subject themselves to any desires of the enemy, but they must remain unshakable in that which the Lord has said. If you remain steadfast in your position as a child of God, the devil cannot touch any area of your life. However, if you relapse and commit a sin, repent from it immediately, otherwise you will lose your connection with the Father.

Live the mercies of the Lord, because by remaining steadfast in what Jesus has done on your behalf no condemnation will come upon your life and you will no longer trip or be enslaved by the devil. Today your position is of supremacy. Those who are in Christ can and should enjoy eternal freedom. Halleluiah!
