When Jesus had raised Himself up and saw no one but the woman, He said to her, “Woman, where are those accusers of yours? Has no one condemned you?” John 8.10

The Pharisee’s intention as they approached Jesus was to find a reason to accuse the master.  Although He was God, and as such was Lord of all things, they wanted to catch Him in some way in contradiction to the Law and also to what He preached. Poor Pharisees! They were before the Omniscient Being that would never say anything wrong.  They should have sat at His feet and learned to love the Truth.

Everything combined for them to have the ideal situation where, in their thoughts, the Son of God would not be able to get away. However, just like it happened to Jesus, it also can happen to us. Now, if we are living in the presence of God, we will know how to handle any unforeseen situation including those prepared to harm us.  They should have learned that those who walk in the light do not stumble, but those who walk in darkness do stumble.

The mind that is not spiritually reborn is villainous, since it does not submit to God’s dominion and almost always when it needs the divine favor, it feigns to be “holy” and leads the person to simulate their actions so as not to seem to be in error. Those that give themselves to sin receive in themselves the consequences for their actions and even though they disguise themselves to seem to have nothing wrong with them, even their actions denounce them as transgressors.

On that day, Jesus was sitting in the temple teaching the Word, when he was interrupted by a very unusual situation.  A woman who had been found in adultery was brought and thrown at His feet.  Since nobody comes to Christ if the Father who sent Him does not bring them, Jesus knew that that situation would turn into a lesson.  The Pharisees thought they would find something to accuse Him, but instead they took a lesson that put them to shame.

Those men questioned if they should stone her as the Law prescribed, or if they should use the mercy that Jesus taught.  Now they were staunch defenders of the Law of Moses and they thought that if Jesus went against the legal precepts concerning the transgressors they would have the proof to incriminate Jesus and to kill Him.   But who can win Him who is the eternal Judge, in whom no wrong has been found?  It remained proven that all the people need the Savior.

The Master leaned back, allowing the debate to warm up.  Then He could teach something worthwhile for them and also for anyone who in any place and at any time would hear the lesson.  If you have asked God something and received no answer; understand that this is for your own good; after all, there are more important problems to be solved, so that at the proper time you can solve the larger problems than now.

As they were insistent, the Master straightened up, stopped writing on the floor and told all of them that whoever was without sin should throw the first stone against the adulteress.  Consequently, beginning with the oldest until the newest, they all went away because there was no one without sin.  When God speaks there is no way to resist but only to accept.

In Christ, with love,

Wise Father!  We have to live close to You to learn from You what to do in adverse circumstances.  Often times without our noticing, we are involved in so much confusion, that there seems to be no solution.  Help us to know You and serve You as we should.

The pharisaic spirit continues to work in this world.  The people change but the purpose continues.  Thus, when least expect, someone is sent by Satan to hinder Your work.  But like it happened in the temple in Jerusalem, You will show the way.

You saved that woman from death by stoning and from eternal death.  When she left Your presence she knew she should no longer sin, because having been pardoned by Jesus, there was no condemnation for her.
