What I feared has come upon me; what I dreaded has happened to me.  Job 3.25

Satan taking part at the meeting the Lord made with His children is a bit strange and almost unbelievable. But it is true because the Bible tells us so (Job 1.6). We must be apart from all evil and everything that is wrong. Thus, we are free from a devil´s request to touch us towards the Almighty. This understanding shows us we must always be clean.

God is omniscient; He knew why Satan was there. We can’t hide anything from the Lord unless we want to suffer. The devil tempts someone and gets that person to obey him, therefore, without a doubt, he will demand before the Lord the right to oppress this life. It would be good if it never happens to you, but if one day you fall, you must immediately confess your mistake to God and ask for His help.

You should not have a hidden sin because the Lord can’t justify you if you try to hide your mistakes. The Bible declares that if we confess our sins, he is faithful and just and will forgive us our sins and purify us from all unrighteousness (1 Jo 1.9). Why not do it now? If there is something wrong in your life, try to be honest with the Almighty and confess your mistakes. And then, believe He forgave you and that you are purified of all iniquity.

According to the Bible, on the first permission, the devil kills Job’s oxen and donkeys, as well as his servants that took care of the animals. And then the sheep and the servants that took care of them. And afterwards, the camels and the servants that took care of them (Job 1). It’s interesting to notice that Job, the righteous, didn’t pray to stop that.  At last, the devil kills his sons and daughters that were gathered in the oldest brother’s house. Even so he doesn’t pray for him or in his wife’s favor.

God allowed Satan to touch Job as long as he was not killed. The result was that he became a wound from the crown of his head to the soles of his feet. There wasn’t a healthy place in his body (Job 2.7). He stayed out of his house and sat down on ashes and scraped himself with a piece of broken pottery. It is evident that the devil can have permission to make someone suffer and he can kill him at the end. For Job, this permission wasn’t complete.

Job realized that the cause for these things to happen was something that he feared the most. The Bible says that the Spirit God gave us does not make us timid, but gives us power, love and self-discipline (2 Tim 1.7). The Lord gave us His Holy Spirit who intercedes through wordless groans for the Christians (Rm 8.26). The Comforter makes us cry out to God as a father. This is why He pays attention to us. Don’t lose this privilege!

The lesson we learn is that we must not have hidden sins. If we have them the enemy will try to inflict evil upon us. He asked the permission to sift Peter but Jesus prayed for him (Luk 22.31, 32). The Savior still intercedes for us when the devil asks the same. Therefore, you must accomplish the commandments and then the divine love will be with you.

In Christ, with love

Omnipotent God! We know we can’t hide anything in our hearts. This will give the devil the right to sift us and then we will go through a terrible trial. Save us from the sins and sufferings that our bad behavior brings.

You know about everything. That is why we ask Your Holy Spirit to convince us about sin, righteousness and judgment. Therefore we can confess our mistakes and at the same time be free from the punishment we would have if our transgressions were hidden.

Without Your mercy and help we won’t make You happy. Deliver us from temptations and then we will be free from torment. Lord, we really need Your help.
