The statutes of the Lord are right, rejoicing the heart; the commandment of the Lord is pure, enlightening the eyes.  Psalm 19.8

There are two important things revealed in Scriptures for a good living: the statutes and the commandment of the Lord. Surely, the eternal Father does not desire any of His children to be deprived of the promises described in the Bible. However, in order to give us what we ask in faith, our hearts must rejoice and our eyes be enlightened.

The person who finds out the importance of these recommendations must pray asking all of them to be revealed; then, he will be able to live completely well. When you find out the full extent of the commandment, and this is possible by searching the Scriptures, embrace it. There is no reason, if you do so, for God not to bless you.

Statutes are smaller commandments, rules that we must observe, rules aimed at pleasing our hearts. You find them all throughout the Bible – when a miracle is narrated, in a prophecy and in rebuking. It is our responsibility to embrace them as they are being revealed to us. In them we are in a position in which blessings will flow more easily.

Our spirit needs the Biblical revelation, because, if the joy of the Lord is not in us, we are deprived of strength (Nehemiah 8.10). Let Him bring all the joy He has prepared for us, because our lives ought to be like a party with the Lord. The feeling of fulfillment that invades our hearts is a sign that the Most High visits us and, because of that, we are enlightened so that we will not miss anything He is giving us.

God’s commandments are pure, they are presented with no trace of evil. Therefore it can do us no evil or have any side effects. Even when God rebukes us or our soul is hurt somehow it is for our own good (Hosea 6.1). When the wound heals, there will be no trace left showing that we have been hurt. The Father’s commandment is for you to love Him; and, thus, be loved by Him.

The mission of the commandment of the Lord is to enlighten the eyes of our hearts. Without it we are unable to see things as they truly are. We cannot question God, because He is so complete that we can barely understand His marvelous plans. However, when we obey His commands, we are enlightened and need not worry about anything, because the Lord provides for our every need.

Try to understand what you find in God’s statutes and obey them. In fact, you will not have to work hard to follow them, but only decide that you want them in your life. God works both to will and to do (Philippians 2.13). Therefore, the wise agrees with Him; all you need is to listen to Him when you need something.

In Christ, with love,

God, the law-giver! How good it is for us to understand the reason you have given us your statutes and Your commandment for us to obey them. In fact they are vital to our spirits, as vitamins, proteins and minerals are to our bodies.

As we obey your statutes – the small rules – our spirits rejoice and, with that, we are made ready to receive what is entitled to us. All the blessings have already been purchased and handed out. We receive them in Your visitation.

We can barely grasp the extent of your commandment. As we obey You, the eyes of our hearts are opened and so we can claim all that is ours. Thank you for everything, Lord!
