Therefore my spirit is overwhelmed within me; my heart within me is distressed. I remember the days of old; I meditate on all Your works; I muse on the work of Your hands.

Psalm 143.4,5

There are moments when our spirit is overwhelmed and we feel anguished. The right remedy then is to remind ourselves of the biblical days and the times when the Lord worked in us and on our behalf, because today he still does the same works for those who trust in him and call upon him.

Many times we do not find a reasonable explanation for the pain that overwhelms our spirits, even though we are Christians, but this is a reflection of our unconscious contempt for the Word of God. In these times, we must turn to the Bible, because, through the understanding that we gain from it, our communion with the Lord strengthens us and we are delivered.

He who strays from the Lord cannot find consolation anywhere, because nothing in the world will ever be able to replace God. Not even friends and family (no matter how good they are) can make up for the absence of God in our lives. We receive consolation when we turn to the Lamb of God; after all, only he has the power to lift up our spirits.

It is not difficult to go back to feeling a strong faith, God’s power that encourages us to face our problems and overcome them. So it is important that we remember what happened to our brethren from biblical times: they went through similar crises and, when they turned to God, they received his power and attained victory. In addition, reminding ourselves of everything the Lord has already done for us and through us is also a good exercise.

Think about everything that the eternal God has done for mankind. The accounts of his works produce an awakening in the hearts of those who respect him as Lord and Father. When God’s fire lights up in your heart, you will feel that you can overcome any attacks of the devil. In fact, with the Almighty reigning in your life, you are already victorious.

All blessings that God has already given to someone can also work in the life of anyone who puts his trust in him. Therefore, at this moment, turn to the Lord in prayer, tell him everything that is in your heart and ask him to renew your spirit. Then read a Psalm or a chapter of one of the Gospels, and you will feel your soul strengthened by God’s power.

The Lord’s promises will never fail, and his works recorded in the Scriptures can happen in your life as soon as you feel that your fellowship with him has been restored. At this very moment, heavenly powers are ready to wage a battle on your behalf. So let the power of God work in you!
