May the Lord give you discretion and understanding when he puts you in command over Israel, so that you may keep the law of the Lord your God.  1 Chronicles 22:12

Solomon knew that his father, king David, was a man used by God in several ways, even like a prophet. That is why he paid attention to the blessing that was given him. We must be alert to what the Omnipotent will speak regarding us, whether through the Word, or through someone else. There is nothing more important to be done than believing in His testimony about us.

Every father wants the best for his child, and without a doubt, David also wanted this for Solomon, whom the Lord chose to reign in Israel. But there is no doubt whatsoever: what that monarch spoke to his son came from on High. Facts prove that he was used to show Solomon what he ought to do when the opportunity presented itself. Those who aspire to be used by the Lord must keep safe that which they are told and believe in those words.

When he blessed the one who would succeed him in the throne of Israel, the king, who was soon to be taken to Heaven, asked the Lord to give his son prudence (wisdom) and understanding. This was direction from the Most High so that he did not get carried away by greed, but only by what God spoke to his heart. The same way, you must never allow anything to influence you, unless what is spoken to you is said by the Almighty God.

Solomon kept those words, and later, when the Lord came to him in a dream and said that He would give him everything he asked, the young king asked for wisdom. He did not deviate from such guidance and because of that, he pleased the Lord. Now, those who despise the Word of God will perish; on the other hand, those who keep it will be rewarded. The end of the story shows that he was greatly blessed and prospered in all things.

The fear of the Lord is measured when we are confronted with opportunities and we ask exactly what we feel from God. Never change the words of the Most High, for His will will remain unaltered. The immutability of the testimony given by God regarding you guarantees that you will have what He has told you. Thus, the Word will be confirmed. Those who believe in the Lord will not be confused.

As a reward for what Solomon decided, God said that He would give him wisdom and understanding, but He added on riches, land and honor. The Father promises to do much more than what we ask or think of. Evidently, He will give us that which is good and beneficial. Those who despise what they have been given by the Lord are actually making themselves brothers and sister of the destroyer.

Walk in accordance to God´s purpose and when an opportunity is given to you, make your request like it was told you.  If something extra is given to you, it will be God´s favor. However, do not content with less than what is has been promised to you.

In Christ, with love,

Oh Lord! May we never abandon what You have been telling us directly or by someone´s ministering. When we feel something coming from You, we must keep it in our heart and fulfill Your Words. Thus, you will ensure Your promises are kept.

If You ask us what we crave for, or if an opportunity arises, we must remain firm in what You have promised us. This way, the answer will please You and You will do what You have spoken about us. Thank You for loving us.

Solomon achieved what he asked for, for he obeyed Your purpose. However, those who do according to their own desire will discover they have acted wrongly and what they have gained is much less than what they had been promised.
