And he moved from there and dug another well, and they did not quarrel over it. So he called its name Rehoboth, because he said, “For now the Lord has made room for us, and we shall be fruitful in the land. Genesis 26.22

When Isaac went to Gerar, running away from hunger, God told him not to go to Egypt. Promptly, he showed that he was a faithful servant and obeyed the divine order. When the Lord says something, guides us or exhorts us, it is best to obey, because we show our love to Him by doing that (Job 14:21) However, if we don’t obey Him, there will come a day where we will need His help and we will not find Him.

Obedience to the Most High is always rewarded with favors from Heaven, even when we have to go through a few trials. God knows how to prepare us for His work.  The trials we go through in any area of life should never discourage us. Even if they are strong temptations, remain steadfast and don’t fall, so that the enemy will never take you in his hands. Your freedom is important for your walk.

The Abimelech of those days almost took Rebekah, Isaac’s wife, for himself, just like the first Abimelech, in the days of Abraham, took Sarah. Now, God made it so that Abimelech saw Isaac spending time with his wife (Gen 26:8). The ways that the Father uses to deliver are many and functional, as long as there is nothing obstructing the way. The Bible orients us to have white garments at all times, because when a trial comes, we can receive help.

Isaac sowed in that same year, and God gave him an incredible harvest, proving that Isaac was in His hands. Isaac continued to grow in that land and envy began to arise in the philistines, which began to mistreat him. However, we never heard him say that he was worried about that; after all, The One who ordered him to stay there knew what He was doing. Halleluiah!

Do you see how a person that doesn’t serve God can be bad and foolish? The water wells that Abraham dug could have been used by the philistines, but they filled them with bricks. Today, many of those who are lost act the same way, they don’t care about the water that we offer them that could cease their thirst for the Truth. Those who are wise never despise a revelation from God.

Abimelech himself asked Isaac to stay far from him, because he had become far more powerful than them. Isaac answered his request and went to live in the valley of Gerar, pinching his tents there. However, two wells that his servants had dug were claimed by the pastors of Gerar. Isaac did not retaliate or gather and army to destroy the philistines, instead he trusted the fact that God was in command.

Then he dug another well, and there was no more strife. He named it Rehoboht, because God had widened it. So then he went to Beersheba where he found the Lord and received promises from Him. The lesson is: Whoever serves the Lord, in the end, will be blessed

In Christ, with love,

Lord! While seeing Your servant going to Gerar, You forbid him to go to the land in Egypt. We always need to be aware of what You say to us, so that we don’t  fall in the hands of the enemy, and consequently, hinder Your plans.

You made Isaac prosper, giving him a harvest one hundred times greater than he had sown: ten thousand percent return. That must have worried the philistines, but, still, they did not seek You.

In the valley of Gerar, you blessed Your servant with two dwells, that the pastors had taken from him. Nevertheless, he kept on digging until he found another well. May Your servants dig and find living water.
