While He spoke these things to them, behold, a ruler came and worshiped Him, saying, “my daughter has just died, but come and lay Your hand on her and she will live.” So Jesus arose and followed him, and so did His disciples. Matthew 9.18,19

Incredibly, a man made Jesus follow him. Obviously, the Master did not follow him as if he were the way to God, for only Christ is the Way. The Son of God followed him to put an end to the great suffering that tore this poor father’s heart: the premature death of his daughter. The faith demonstrated by this man made the Master go to his house and bring his daughter back to life. In the same way, your faith will also make the Lord change the course in which He may be walking.

As this citizen approached the Master, he showed that he had enough faith to bring Him to his own house. Those who pay attention to what the faith in Jesus can do, obtain whatever it promises. It is important to be open to what is revealed, for if you have faith, the Lord God will use your prayer. The clamor that receives divine attention is what the Bible calls the prayer of faith. If you do it, even if your situation might seem irreversible, the miracle will take place..

Jairus’ faith led him to pray, saying that even though humanly speaking there was nothing else to do for his daughter, that if the Master laid His hand on her, she would heal and live. Every request that is done in the right way – with faith – will bring the expected result. Jesus had to go with Jairus, for he had demonstrated that he was the new vessel ready to receive the new wine, as the Master had just taught.

This man overcame a series of obstacles in order to find healing for his daughter. Even being the head of the Synagogue, he went to Jesus. Because of that act, he could have had serious problems with his colleagues, since the Jewish leaders did not accept Jesus’ ministry. Jairus did even more: before all the people, he prostrated and worshipped the Lord. With such an attitude, he was declaring that he knew who Jesus was.

The evangelist Mark wrote that Jairus insisted with Jesus to come with him. Imagine what would have happened if the Master had refused his invitation? Certainly, the others from the Synagogue would have treated him very harshly. But those who have faith do not measure their efforts or think about what can happen if they obey to the divine urge. Faith makes the obedient person to follow the orientation that he or she receives, without caring about what may happen.

Do not neglect what faith tells you, for it will never ask you to do too much, but only to trust in Christ. Those who obey, return with happiness, telling what happened to them. Those who impose conditions to obey to the divine urge realize that they did not do well in not responding to the touch of Heaven. Always follow the instructions from the Word of God, and in the end, you will see that it was the best thing you could have ever done.

In Christ, with love,
