Attend to my cry, for I am brought very low; deliver me from my persecutors, for they are stronger than I. Psalm 142.6

In the updated translation, the expression very low is expressed as very weak. This is the portrait of man in his natural state, when he does not have the help of the Spirit of God. The daily struggles, temptations and frustrations affect those who do not know how to find strength in their weaknesses. The way out is to cry out to the Lord so that He listens to our cry and frees us from our persecutors, which are stronger than us.

Crying out to God does not necessarily mean crying in a loud voice, but expressing a firm and profound request from inside of you, which may be even stronger than an audible cry. If this prayer is based on what God says in His word, it is attended by Him. Certainly, it was with such a prayer that Ishmael, son of Abraham and Hagar, made in the desert asking for divine help. In the same way, it was so with David, who wrote this Psalm with the Lord’s direction.

David’s adversaries were not stronger than ours, and the psalmist learned that crying out to God would help him to be delivered. Now, those who do not do such a request fall in the hands of perverse beings, whose purpose is to steal, kill, and destroy (Jo 10.10a). The Most High knows everything that happens with us, and when we pray asking for help, He can definitely deliver us. If you do not cry, you are decreeing your own defeat.

If the moral persecutor attacks you, it is useless to keep telling yourself that you will not fall. When he comes to tempt you, he brings with him the tools of Hell that have made many fall into temptation. The demons are sent to fulfill Satan’s plan. The only way not to be destroyed and oppressed by the persecutor is to cry out to God, who will readily deliver you.

In the same way, the persecutor attacks in the financial area. If you do not get rid of him, your life will be so miserable that you will even curse God, who has nothing to do with your unhappiness. The first solution is to notice where you have fallen, or to see what door you have opened for the devil. This is possible through the Word. The following solution is to open your heart and ask for divine help, for the Lord is our Refuge, Stronghold, and Deliverer (Sl 18.2).

At last, when the persecutors come, you may feel spiritually weak. Then, without strength nor power, you will not be able to resist. However, if you cry out to the Father, in the same instant, He will start to strengthen you. Then, with a firm faith, rebuke all the forces of evil. Undoubtedly, those who put their faith in the Almighty will be strengthened in such a way that the enemy, even if he is very well prepared, will be ashamed and defeated.

In Christ, with love,
