And Moses said, “It is not right to do so, for we would be sacrificing the abomination of the Egyptians to the Lord our God. If we sacrifice the abomination of the Egyptians before their eyes, then will they not stone us? Exodus 8:26

The plague of the flies caused Pharaoh to reconsider his daring not to allow the exodus of the Hebrews on their way to the desert to sacrifice to the Lord.  That ruler was afraid that if they did leave they would never return. Understand this: it is very important to know whether God is in on the deal, for if it is His plan, there is no stopping it.  When the children of Israel cried out in supplication and their plea reached the Almighty, He decided to remove His people out of Egypt.

The king permitted the Hebrews to leave to sacrifice to their God as long as they did not exit the land.  Moses rejected that offer and more plagues were wrought in order for the complete liberation to be undertaken.  Little by little, slowly but surely the Lord made Israel gain ground in the dispute with the Egyptian potentate.  So the day was coming when they would all leave to never return to the captivity under evil which was a symbol of humanity’s exit from the kingdom of darkness.

Moses refers to sacrifice that were abominable to Egyptians. Religions were not invented by chance, but by the prince of darkness to offer a variety of doors that lead men to nowhere good.  Only the Good News of the Sacrifice of Jesus Christ in our favor can afford anyone conditions to be totally delivered from the empire of evil.

Never negotiate what you have received from God; if you do, you may lose the opportunity of your life.  The Most High’s revelation is always the best for you in any and all circumstances and situations.  For this reason even if the moment when the “seller” or the “buyer” arrives – in this case represented as the devil, wanting to grab or to clutch you in his hands, pay no attention to his deceptions.  No doubt the devil wants to have you under his thumb.  Mercy!

Pharaoh had a feeling that the sons of Jacob would leave forever when they left to sacrifice to the Lord.  This way, he would only permit them if they promised not to go too far, an idea that was rejected.  When something is determined by the Almighty, even though there may be battles and struggles it will come to pass.  None of God’s plans will be discarded or avoided because He Himself, the Almighty is at the helm conducting His work.

This would serve as a lesson today. The devil always tries to convince us to serve God in a way that is more acceptable or pleasing to society, free from fanaticism as people commonly say.  The devil knows that the heavenly Father does not negotiate any one of His commandments.  By so doing, if we do accept anyone’s request in this respect, we will be out of bounds from the Omnipotent´s terms and instructions.  The Lord says in His word that we must resort to the Law and the witness without which there can be no light. (Isaiah 8:20) Always stick to His side.

Remember the young prophet who left Bethel to prophecy against the altar built by Jeroboham and was then killed by a lion (1 Kings 13). The young prophet accepted to go to an old prophet’s house, instead of obeying God and following his course, and was consequently killed by the king of the beasts.

In Christ, with Love,

Lord, our Commander!  We must be faithful to Your orders because You know what is necessary for us to reach the state or the position where You can attend us and use us. This is why we must not alter or deviate from Your determinations even though another alternative may seem good.

The plague of the flies made the Pharaoh retreat for a time because when he learned that in the land of Goshen not one fly was seen, he understood that You were not fooling.  However, because he did not want to lose one slave, that king proposed something that was unacceptable.

Being always vigilant we will be able to recognize that we can’t negotiate with the enemy.  If we don’t know what to do in these moments, we must wait for You to tell us what to say or to do; only then, on Your Word, we will march and do Your work. Amen!
