20/12/2016 - NINEVEH´S DECREE

This is the proclamation he issued in Nineveh: “By the decree of the king and his nobles: Do not let people or animals, herds or flocks, taste anything; do not let them eat or drink.  Jonah 3.7

Assyria would never be the same again, proclaimed the All-Mighty. This must make the most faithful servant tremble, because when they receive the order to go to some place, the Lord has more in His mind than the implantation of a Church: He wants to make of that people part of the redeemed that will be in front of Him for all eternity. Those that don’t obey and don’t serve God, on the Great Day, will be accountable for a lot of lives that were not saved because of their rebelliousness.

Instead of sending curses to destroy Assyria, whose residents were barbarians, God sent one of His prophets, who, actually, was afraid of that decision and ran away. It doesn’t matter how big the challenge is; if the Lord is sending you somewhere, He has already prepared everything for the accomplishment of His work in that place. Whoever was called to announce the Word, must put on the weapons of justice and head off to combat.

It was a simple but powerful message, which said the city would be destroyed in 40 days; therefore, that which was said penetrated the hearts of the residents, including the king’s heart. We don’t know how the Word of God can change a barbarian nation in so little time, but the truth is that it does. Therefore, never cease to proclaim what the Scriptures say, because in the end you will be completed fulfilled. The Good News blesses those that receive it and give deliver it.

The chief of the Assyrian government agreed with his nation that they should abstain and and ask for the Lord´s mercy, and agreed to abstain the animals too. Nobody could imagine that this would take place, but this fact reminds us that the Lord knows how to do the work. That’s why those who are commissioned by God must not refuse to go where they were commanded to, because He is a good strategist and protector.

Nobody could eat or drink during that period of clamor and that people realized that this was the only attitude that could save them. While Jonah was proclaiming the divine message, the Lord was speaking to the heart of those people, showing what should be done to avoid a catastrophe. The same happens today; if we are giving the divine message, bigger decision will come from where we least expect. Therefore, be loyal to the Father who called you to do His will.

There is no other way to deliver an person or a nation from eternal destruction, except to preach the Truth to everyone. If we don’t give the Heaven’s message, we will have several people – good or evil– that will taste the eternal destruction. So, being responsible for this loss, will we escape condemnation? Instead of pondering on this subject, we have to go out and do what we were commanded. God knows how to command His work and make it be completely successful.

Your life can be in eternal dangerous, even if you are the most dedicated Christian; that is why if you don’t do what you were told, you will certainly be condemned. Therefore, don’t let yourself be dominated by the demons of uncertainty and fear, but continue and do the work you were given.

Love in Christ,

God! What a victory! You knew how to use your servant and, thus, Nineveh was spared and Assyria got to know Your Power. My prayer is for this to happen in all places. The world needs to experience the power of the One who created everything. Hallelujah!

We are certain that one day You will allow all the Earth to fill itself with Your glory. Then, Your work will be done so successfully, that in every corner, we will see people with their hands raised and praising You.

May people avoid the eternal destruction, because in a blink of an eye, Your Son will come and nothing else will be possible. May we always be strong to take part in this matchless moment. Don’t let us come out of Your purpose, because we Love You! Amen!
