And the Angel of the Lord said to him, Why have you struck your donkey these three times? Behold, I have come out to stand against you, because your way is perverse before Me.  Numbers 22.32

Balaam considered himself a prophet and a man of God, but it was all a fraud, for he was driven by his reward. Nowadays, there are also some people who consider themselves servants of the Most High, but keep secrets in their hearts that please the devil. The proof that you belong to God is the testimony that he gives to your heart. If you have not been taught by the Lord, you need to re-evaluate yourself.

Those who belong to God are filled with the Holy Spirit, live as innocent people, do not follow what is evil, do not desire anything wrong to others, and are pleased in observing the orders that they receive from the Lord. Now, the wicked have secrets they do not tell anyone, are masters in the art of deceit, and seek profit and personal pleasure in everything they speak or act.

Balaam’s colleagues strike not only donkeys; they also strike those who serve God. Besides, they have no remorse of their attitudes. They can retain the salary of their employees, not pay the taxes that they are due, and still, without any embarrassment, accuse those who are caught doing something wrong. The Most High sees all these things, and that is why these individuals will not go unpunished. No one can hide from the One who sees all things.

The Almighty sent His angel to meet with the mercenary prophet. The visit from that heavenly being was an act of mercy, so that Balaam would not submit himself to the devil, who wanted him to be cursed. As the prophet attempted, in vain, to act as the enemy desired, he was stopped three times. Since he did not have the vision of God, he struck the animal that served him. If something is going wrong for you, is it not better to consult the Most High?

Live in such a way that the angel of God meets you for your good. Then, the doors will open to you almost automatically. There will be no pain in your conscience, not even a slight sorrow. The sign that proves that God is guiding you is the holy joy that goes along with all your attitudes. Whenever someone is being guided by God, even his adversaries rejoice with him.

Seek to live in such a way that your ways are never perverse. Look to the commandments, and if you have stumbled in any of them, the blessing of the Lord will not be given to you. God can only bless those who respect what He says. Do not desire to assume the ways of wrongdoing, lying, and sinning.

Seek in every moment to have your robes white and cleaned in the blood of Jesus. Then, the Angel of the Lord will encamp at your side and will deliver you always, for you respect the Almighty.
