So you also, when you have done everything you were told to do, should say, ‘We are unworthy servants; we have only done our duty.’’ Luke 17:10

After a great work, a great failure can take place; therefore, we must put into practice the warning given by the Master that we must be vigilant and pray (Matthew 26:41). Man is vain by nature, and even though he knows he must only speak the truth, when he is used in an important deed, he lets himself be carried away by the enemy. Then, when he is questioned about the reason for his success, almost all the time, he says that it is because he is good in what he does.

If suddenly, success is interrupted, the person goes in despair and asks God why things are not flowing like before. Actually, if he had been an obedient servant, he would have fulfilled the orders given by the Most High. And when the result occurred as planned in the Heavens, he should give glory, honor and praise to Whom, in fact, did the work. Unfortunately, many people take ownership of what had to be offered only to the work of the Lord.

See who you were and how much you fought to receive divine help. Then, when the work is complete, do not allow your heart to inflate and think that this happened only because you are better than others. The Scriptures warn us that pride goes before destruction (Proverbs 16:18); therefore, when you feel in such a way, take a step back and don’t speak this way any longer. Those who recognize the Most High as the Author of victory, with all their heart, will be used for greater tasks.

It is good to always give thanks to God because He trusted you with His works, remembering that He is the One who will do them. Therefore, when you receive a mission, face it as if it were the last one of your life, struggling to fulfill it with the understanding and strength given by the Lord through His Word. Let Him use you; thus, you will succeed in the projects that are placed in your hands.

Another issue to be observed is to never surpass the orders of the celestial Father, or what is written. The Omniscient God will never be surprised nor give an instruction that lacks something. Within what was told you, you will find everything that you need. Do not put anything in your head to accomplish the work, for it will hinder the divine plans. Those that submit themselves to all the Lord´s orientations will see that their obedience is recognized.

It is also important not to do something that is forbidden by God or deliver messages that you think are good, but that do not come from Him. He who takes strange fire to the Lord´s altar offends Him. You must have clean hands to fulfill the will of the Father, because if during an emergency you add something to the work that comes from your mind or from somebody, it will not come out pure. God commands us to be holy, for He is holy (1Peter 1:16).

Regarding the title of unworthy servant, it is much better than the wicked and careless title that many will receive. It is only by God´s mercy that we are accepted to place our hands in the divine harvest. When this happens, this permission by itself is good enough reason to give thanks.  Praise always belongs to God.

In Christ, with love

Lord of the harvest! It is good to learn how to proceed in all things in Your work. To be Your servant and called upon to accomplish some task is the best we can receive from You. Therefore, prepare us and use us according to Your will.

Help us understand Your command and fulfill it under Your guidance with the tools given by You. If we are inclined to use the weapons of men, rebuke us so that we do not take strange fire to Your holy work.

To be called unworthy servants is not that bad, but to be called wicked and careless is. That is why, we cry out for Your favor, for we do not want to leave behind anything that You have entrusted us to do. When we are to receive the crown of life, we will exalt You like you should.
