Oh, send out Your light and Your truth! Let them lead me; Let them bring me to Your holy hill and to Your tabernacle. Then I will go to the altar of God, to God my exceeding joy; and on the harp I will praise You, O God, my God. Psalm 43:3-4

David’s experiences serve as tips for us not to fall into error along our Christian path. When we accept the Lord Jesus as Savior we are delivered from the power of darkness (Colossians 1:13), but because we are still in this world we need light and truth to draw near to the Almighty. Only then will we be able to go to the altar of God, who is our joy. Once we get there, we will praise Him with the “instrument” He taught us to play.

The life of the shepherd who became king of Israel is full of successful situations and when he wrote them down he was used as a prophet. The Holy Spirit led him to record what he had been taught so that we could learn to tread the paths of success. Therefore, our aim should always be to please the Lord in everything. Moreover, in order for us to be successful all we have to do is put into practice what the Scriptures teach because the direction that the Bible gives us is always safe and secure.

Our deliverance from the power of darkness occurred when we accepted Jesus as Savior and Lord. When we made the most important decision of our lives by giving ourselves over to the Supreme Pastor we were endowed with the power to become God’s children (John 1:12). So with the light that is given to us by the divine Word, we are transformed from glory to glory and thus clothed in Christ until we become like Him (II Corinthians 3:18).

However, even though we are God’s children, because we are still in the world we are tempted in every way (John 16:33). It is so good when a Christian does not accept the evil suggestions and avoids falling into sin, thus approaching the altar of the Father! This is easy to do: just follow the Biblical instructions. The light that does not make mistakes – Faith – comes by hearing and hearing by the Word of God (Romans 10:17). Likewise, it is the knowledge of Truth which frees us completely (John 8:32).

Thus, with the light and the truth we come into the presence of the Most High. Now when we look at God’s face we are enlightened, empowered and assisted in all the things we ask or think (Ephesians 3:20). So strive to be in the Lord’s presence and you will find that you will be able to walk uprightly and as a result boons will not be withheld from you.

You need to grow in your spiritual life so that the heavenly Father can be your joy. Perhaps up until now He is only one God who might help you; however, when you stand before the Lord, you will see that there is more in store for you than you ever imagined and then your lips will praise Him with the “instrument” He taught you to play.

In Christ with Love,
